Renowned jazz musicians from around the world will converge for "Thailand International Jazz Conference 2010" (TIJC), to be held at the College of Music, Mahidol University, Salaya campus, Nakhon Pathom, from January 29 to 31. Featured musicians will include Aaron Goldberg, Gregory Hutchinson, Omer Avital, Rich Perry, Harold Danko, Jeff Hirshfield and Jay Anderson. The festival will also be joined by Thai jazz artists including Koh Mr Saxman, Infinity, Pomelo Town, Mansri, the Mahidol Jazz Orchestra, and many more.
The event will also feature various activities including the TIJC Solo Competition, giving an opportunity for solo jazz artist to win more 100,000 baht in prizes and certification. The competition is categorised into two divisions: open and junior, for musicians under the age of 22. The application fee is 800 baht for the open division, 500 baht for juniors.
As part of the TIJC Education Series, a workshop will be given by jazz masters. And the TIJC Exhibition will showcase many aspects of jazz from musical instruments to instruction books and CDs.
Tickets are 2,000 baht for a three-day conference pass (all events), and 500 baht for a one-day Workshop pass (daytime Workshop) or a Performance pass (evening concert).
