Shopping for furniture

We just bought a house in Soi 102 and it needs to be furnished. Can anyone recommend a furniture shop that's reasonably priced, and can deliver immediately?

You could try Big Kiang's shop on Soi 114/Petchkasem. They have a wide selection of relatively inexpensive furniture. Delivery is normally by cab, but you can negotiate cost of delivery with the shop.

Going south out of Hua-Hin there is a big furniture shop to the right just after the flyover.
They are very reasonably priced, and will usually deliver within a couple of hours.

On the corner of Soi 54 is a shop called Thai Wood who are very good - ask for Mai and mention you were recommended by khun Dan and you might get a discount!!!

Thanks for the suggestions. What about curtains & electrical equipment/appliances such as fridge, kettle & such. Any shops that you know & can recommend?

What about Index - we've heard about it.

Any helpful tips/suggestions reg. anything for a new house owner in HH is much welcomed

There's an electrical store on Chomsin Rd - as you turn off Petkasem to head inland towards the dreaded railway crossing, it's on the left just before the railway line. Haven't used it (the electrical stores I used to use on Petkasem are long gone) but it seems to have pretty much everything.
Just a little further along Chomsin, over the railway and just past Gee Supermarket on the left is a rather nice looking soft furnishings shop. Opposite that, down the road leading to PalaU, and just a hundred yards or so on the left, is a huge shack-like building which houses plenty of household goods, especially towels and bedding, and some electricals.
Next door to it a furniture place. Solid wood Thai style and maybe too expensive, but some great looking furniture. A little further on the bend in the road is a regular furniture store.
I never had a problem with immediate delivery from the smaller independant shops. Tesco has an electrical department as well, but I don't know what they are like for delivery.
BTW - don't forget fans!

Again, for these I would check Big Kiang first to see if they have what you want, but for these you need to go the the other Big Kiang store (they have 2). The furniture is at the store mentioned earlier but electrics and electronics are in their other (original) store across the road from and just south of Market Village Mall.

Don't forget to bargain at Big Kiang. They will usually discount the first asked or marked price, especially if you are buying several items or expensive ones. I bought a fridge there and had to race the delivery truck to beat it to my house to let them in!

Depends on what you are looking for. Shop around as some of the markups are staggering.

It depends what you want but if you like traditional style furniture it is well worth taking a trip down to Dan Sing Khon, which is about an hour and a half South of Hua Hin (from memory). There is a border point with Burma there and a furniture market. It is a pleasant day trip and is well sign posted from Prachuab Kiri Khan, where you can take 5 at the beach! You will need a pick up truck to bring back any furniture though - if you don't have access to one, the 1000 baht it will cost you to rent one will easily be paid for by the savings on furniture prices and even if you don't find anything you like you'll have had a day out somewhere new!

Try "Winner" on left as you head out of town going to Cha-am direction just up from Index which is OK but exp.

Curtains - try Pranburi blue faced 2 storey building next to pharmacist on corner (lights) just before you turn left to go to Tesco/Lotus in Pranburi. Price approx 30-50% lower than what we received in HH. Must speak Thai though!

The electrical store next to Index (same complex) was also good re: price and same day delivery AND follow up service.

IF you are familiar with the "IKEA" furniture and home furnishing stores (worldwide) you will feel at home at INDEX. Same concept and much of their furniture the same quality and design as that available from IKEA.
