Post by buksida »

The Intercontinental Hua Hin Kiteboardridng World Cup in Thailand is adjusting their event dates for promotional reasons. The new dates will have registration on Sunday March 14th and the competition will be from Monday March 15th till Saturday March 20th. This dates changes will result in additional promotion of the event and a big increase in the number of local and regional competitor to the event, as well as the large number of international professional competitors expected.

Online pre-registration for the event will open up on Monday February 1st at the PKRA website:

http://www.prokitetour.com/event.php?id=99

The Grand Slam event, featuring Freestyle, Course Racing, and sliders disciplines will be the first professional kiteboarding event in Asia in the history of the sport, and it promises to be a new beginning for the sport in the region, as it is expected to become an annual kiteboarding mega-event in Thailand.

In Addition to the PKRA Grand Slam event there will be a regional qualifier event which will be offering direct wildcard entries into the PKRA freestyle main event. Registration for this event will be on the 11th of March and competition will be from March 12- 14.

The usual proof reading problems, I see.

Thought the Intercontinental was no where near the beach. Which bit of beach are they performing on? Anyway near Condo Chain? There is always a hell of activity on Kiteboards down there

"This video contains content from Channel 5, who has decided to block it in your country".

Unusual for us in the UK not being able to see the videos. It's usually at the Thai end.

BB I've never had any trouble seeing Thai ends in Bintabaht. Except when the wife was doing the censoring

Not naughty at all. Video of a kite surfer who goes too high and gets hooked in the wheels of a landing Boeing 737. No idea if fake or real but looks real. Pete

Does it show the outcome? I doubt whether the pilot would have known much about it, and must have been pretty low. I can't see that aborting the landing would have helped much either.

No, just the plane about 100' off the runway with the guy/kite/rope horizontal and trailing behind it. It appears the support boat and kite surfers where in an area right off the end of a runway somewhere. People in the boat doing the filming seem to be speaking English but muffled. Choppy, cold looking water. Perhaps it is real and happened in the UK therefore due to sensitivities, youtube has banned it there? Pete

EDIT: The clip is from a group called "skypirates" and they have other videos on there. Maybe look them up to see if any can be seen there.
