Visa stamp in passport

Post by Meatball »

Hi
The latest stamp in my passport says `stay is permitted up to 9 FEB¨ does that mean thats its okay to leave the 9th and get a new stamp or
do I have to leave the country the 8th?
I have a tourist visa with dubbel entry and i go for my second period now and What about this ¨stay away 24 hours, before go back¨?
I heard so many diffrent answer to this questions so maby someone on the forum can sort this out for me.

You can leave on the 9th although I would always advise going a day early in case there are any delays and you get hit with overstay and the possibility of messing your second entry up.
The other inportant date is the validity of the visa itself. You must use the second entry before the visa expires regardless of what date you're permitted to stay until.
There's no need to be out of Thailand for 24 hours. You can take only as much time as is needed to get your entry and exit stamps from wherever and return.

I've been thinking about this and the "up to date" is ambiguous. All I can say is that I've had four double entry tourist visas in the past and on three occasions I did the border run on the exact date the extension stated up to - no problem.
These were a few years ago, but I'm not aware that any changes have taken place.
However, for peace of mind, just go a day early. You're certainly fine then and ask at the border if you'd have been OK coming a day later.
