I wish that would of worked in the UK when the wife asks you to go to the supermarket for some bits...just go to a bar and have a pint while the waitress nips to the supermarket for you.

hmmm I've just realised something else I love about Thailand :P

Your right in fact maybe many of these chains in the UK could do training based on videos of how the Thais do it. I'm in the UK for 2 monts after being in Hua Hin and Issan for 6 months and you never have a spotty, fat surly Teenager serving you like here.

Can't wait to get back out at the end of September Thailand withdrawal symptoms have certainly kicked in now.

As far as personal safety is concerned.............I worry more about minging soi dogs and broken man-hole covers than anything else. Six years in HH and never felt threatened yet

I've never felt threatened anywhere in Thailand and I have had problems with robberies, attempted robberies, attempted muggings, and all sorts of issues in most major cities I've visited in Europe and the U.S. so personally feel that this is one of the safest places in the world to be out at night.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

See the two post right before your's above, that sums it up pretty well. Most trouble comes when you look for it yourself by being obnoxiously drunk, rude or disrespectful of the culture here. Don't do those things, as well as walk about with gold chains hanging everywhere and your wallet half out of your back pocket and you'll be OK. Pete

Just got back after seeing a friend and checking out the place before bringing the family out. It really is a safe place to be after having been to Pattaya before I found Hua Hin to be much cleaner and safer feel to it. Only one issue was while walking down one of the soi a spaced out prick from the uk was driving a rented car and just looking to intimidate and cause a fight.

All in all a happy safe place to be just avoid farrang that can't respect where they are.

Only "discovered" Hua Hin a couple of years ago, but fell in love with the place straight away and we actually have a house of our own here now.

I've never had or seen problems in Hua Hin on a night, but have seen elsewhere in Thailand. Notably in tourist areas with pi**ed up tourists - embarrassingly the majority being from the UK (with the exception of US servicemen).
