Coyote dancers.

Post by nevets »

We have had the soy finished in concrete its only took 5 yrs 1.5 k of road , anyway we had a party last night in the soy karaoke and 4 coyote dancers.
They were good singers and dancers with their sexy gyrations and gestures although one didn't sing she just danced and was even given money for her very precise and sexy dancing that would have made any backing group to a front line singer proud to have her in the line up.
But i have a problem that really as a western man i was more than a little uneasy with the none singer that just danced.
The problem was she was 3feet tall and may be 5yrs old , now she danced like any other woman and not as a child would dance ,and clearly copied mom who was one of the other dancers and dad was there to it was pointed out to me , proud parents i would guess.
I have 2 daughters as well as 2 sons all over 30yrs old , now i wouldnt have liked to see my daughters dancing in that way at a tender age and of a very impressionable mind. What thoughts do you have or is it just me.

It all started here long ago before there were any coyote dancers. Various village and Wat functions would entail parents dressing up their little daughters as well as using heaps of make up to make them look older, then they would perform at the function. Also turned into competitions and I think they took their lead on this from the USA and the child beauty pageants there. I guess it's now evolved into child coyote dancing.

It's a sad addiction for some Mothers, and the child is just a tool for their ego. If you watch some Thai TV you'll see these kids in their fancy clothes and makeup performing on there as well. I don't like it when I see these things. Let the kid be a kid. Childhood is too short as it is. :( Pete

It might be that they were Morlam dancers rather than Coyote if there was a child involved.
They are originally traditional Issan or Lao song and dance acts, although they've got a bit racier in recent years.

If you think about it, we could take this subject deeper and into the realm of Thai Politics. The parent's there in that band are probably giving their daughter the only head start they know, dancing ability and using her beauty as an advantage for later in life. Intrinsically all parents want their children to do better in life than they did. Here the options are few and worse than that, country folk aren't even aware what the options are in their own country never mind the rest of the world. Pete

Seen loads at various functions such as monk making ceremonies. Not really any different to western kids doing ballet or the kiddy equivalent of stars in their eyes doing a madonna routine. Have to agree on the parent pressure and pride thing being a factor but am sure that most parents the world over just want the best for their kids and to see them do well.

This sort of thing has been going on for years in the US and other places.

The second paragraph in this article really shocked me. She was 5 years old when she uttered these words. It's the parents who have taken away their childhood. All for money.

Yes i have read the report in the paper and it seems the girls didn't get damaged by it all.
But when i see this in the school and at concerts i am a little worried about it , its like exploitation and in a too sexy way not like a kid being in Oliver and precocious , this is in Thailand selling sex and very young kids involved .
I don't know its probably my English upbringing , i don't like it. :(

eerrrrmmm - I thought "Coyote" dancers were pole dancers who kept their kit on - the Coyote Bar in Roi Et certainly isnt somewhere Id take a kid. Mrs S calls pole dancers Coyote Girls... so maybe this is a naming issue.

Mind you, in a country where its considered great prime time TV to take a couple of Downs Syndrome sufferers, dress them up in stupid clown costumes then make fun of them while they play the flute badly nothing really surprises me.

Here's a dancing coyote. I don't know how old she is though...

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I'm with SM67 on this, a "coyote" girl is a dancer (usually a student) that keeps her kit on or is just wearing lingerie or a bikini and messes around on high tables or messes around in an area full of foam etc.

Seems now to be a catch all phrase now. Lost in translation perhaps.

Should be called rip-off tease dancers as the idiots that go to these places get sweat FA from them, Thai or otherwise.

I feel really uncomfortable seeing young (pre-pubescent) girls dressed up like tarts. It doesn't just apply to poorer parents wanting to perhaps earn a bit of dosh using their pretty daughter. When I worked at one of the most expensive schools in Bangkok they were doing the same thing. Loads of make-up, including pouting lips, and wads of cotton wool stuffed in their tops to give them boobs.

I just can't get my head around the dichotomy of a nation that prohibits the sale of condoms at universities, frowns upon any kind of sexual relationship before marriage, yet parades their young kids on stage as a sex objects. :?
