It's possible that there may be some local promotions, but the main time for them is during August and September with the HH and Cha-Am Golf Festival.
It's also worth looking further afield as well. For instance, last year friends and I took advantage of a weekend promotion at Dragon Hills which is closer to Ratchaburi. A round on Saturday and Sunday, caddie fees, overnight accommodation in their hotel and breakfast for 1,400 THB . Great value even if the course is almost two hours away. The same package midweek was 1,100 THB and 1,200 THB for Friday/Saturday. I'm sure that was June time.

Sort of bumping my own post above.
A friend of my father's is coming over to HH this Friday. He's keen to play some golf and I'll meet up with him for that.
Whilst I'd love to play the big courses, they're simply too rich for me. Can anyone confirm if Kaeng Krachan is still doing the Thursday promo at 1,200 incl caddie fee?
Dolphin Bay is another possibility, but I'm not sure how serious a player he is - handicap around 18. My pick would be Dragon Hills midweek at 560 green fee, but I'm not sure how far afield he is prepared to travel.
Thanks for any input.

Chok dii, JW. That seems the best bet and from I've read on this thread, we should probably play one of the original 9s and the new one

We played KK last Thursday and figures for Sportsday are as quoted. 1,000 including caddy and an extra 200 if you play the new 9 (in great condition) which we did.

Found my form on 18th hole and played a blinder at the 19th.

If you going up, can you have a look for three of my golf balls, all lost on new 9.

Also worth considering some of the deals for after 2-3pm as noticed it was still light until quite late tonight. I think Banyan, Royal Hua Hin and Palm Hills do them and maybe others.

Then, of course, there is also the Pranburi army course. Thanarit. (not sure how to spell).

I've tried those after 2 and after 3 deals and usually only got in only 15 or 16 holes before dark. If you want to finish they should make it an after 1:00 deal (at least this time of year) which was what all the Florida courses I used to play did (and that was during the summer when the light allowed you to play until 8 p.m. or later).

Again, golf courses here are geared for tourists and are a total rip off for people actually living here IMHO (military courses excepted)!

Again, thanks for the information. Kaeng Krachan looks best.
I'll keep my eyes open for your balls, Ken. If I find them and they're any good, I might keep them though!!
If we play the new course, is a buggie recommended?

I've been looking at some maps and they say a one hour drive.
Seems like you go through Cha Am and then turn left somewhere in the vicinity of Tha Yang before you get to Petchaburi. I think the course is still some distance from that turning on the outskirts of the National Park.
There are a number of location maps if you Google "Kaeng Krachan+golf course".
EDIT: Looking more closely at a Google Earth map, it seems to be the 3499 road that you need before you get to Tha Yang. It appears to go all the way to the course.
Following the above will probably get you lost though :thumb:

Lomu, was it you who gave some tips about golf in Kanchanaburi on another thread? Can't locate it, and advice from anyone who has played there appreciated. Have some people who want to go there end of the month. Thanks. Pete

I've given some details of courses around Ratchaburi, namely Dragon Hills and Royal Ratchaburi.
If I remember correctly, hhfarang's played some of the Kanchanaburi courses and gave details. JW's been up that way as well, I think. I don't know the courses there.
The information is probably in this thread - somewhere in the all the pages. Probably around June time last year.

I have been to Kanchanaburi several times and looked at some of the courses in the area. They were in good shape and pretty cheap to play but I was on another kind of holiday each time so didn't get a chance to play.

I think earlier in the thread I may have suggested it as a good golfing holiday location as there are 5 or 6 courses within an hour or so of each other, plus plenty of other (tourist type) stuff to do.

Thanks. You, Buks, JW and HHF mention Sapphire and Green ??? on pages 14-15-16. JW or others if you can, give names of 1-2 courses you've played over there and any recommendations/thoughts. Thanks. Pete

I'm still having trouble with how to get to Kaeng Krachan.
Looking at http://www.maphuahin.com/ it appears that it's possible to take the 3499 route which is a little before Tha Yang. Follow that for some way, go over a river and then turn left on the 4019. Follow that for a way and then the course is off to the right. However, there's no road numbers marked around there. Are there any signs for the course and is the above the easiest way to get there?
Thanks.
