Good Hotel

Hi, we are looking for a nice hotel to stay at early June. We have booked at the Hilton on a special rate but can't get the same rate for the rest of our stay in Hua Hin. The Marriot HH or the Sofitel or Wora Bura all look nice but we don't know which is the best.

i love all 3, wora bura has beautiful architecture, but is further out of town and everytime ive been there it has been dead.

sofitel is close to town, and is also beautiful.had great gardens.
marriot is great for kids as it has a good pool and slide...wheeeeeeee....
its also pretty close to town.
if it was me recommending a hotel to friends then i would go with the marriot.
if a friend said they had booked into any of the 3 then i would expect them to be satisfied.

moreso than the hilton.

Thanks for the reply, you sound very knowledgeable of Hua Hin.

We booked at the Hilton Gulf Executive room for three nights and we were going to stay in Bangkok for four nights but with the problems there and it looks so busy we thought we would extend our stay in Hua Hin.

After reading more about HH it sounds very nice and thought we would go golfing.

We are not set on any particular place and those three came up as looking nice. There is a big difference in price. Wora Bura was by far the cheapest at 4,500 baht in deluxe room.

Is the Marriot your favorite, if so what room type or do you like somewhere else better?

marriot is not my favourite hotel, but as far as generic hotels go, its probably up there.

they do have rooms overlooking the beach so maybe ask about them,the rest of the rooms are around a central pool. as are wora bura and sofitel(althought alot of garden is included in these designs)

there are of course many other hotels which are more expensive and exclusive.

i like the dusit(bit further out of town), probably cos it has a great buffet on saturday nights

the hyatt is good also, they have 2 separate hotels, the main hotel which is nice and then they have villas(which are beautiful) but are expensive.sunday brunch at macfarlans resturant is great.

I have stayed in all three more than once before moving to Hua Hin and my choice is Sofitel. I think that hotel is great with a fantastic atmosphere but one should book one of the rooms overlooking the pool rather than those facing the entrance.

The rooms above the reception have very large terraces.

The Sofitel looks interesting in that it is colonial but very different to the Raffles in Singapore, it must still retain a lot of Thai influence.

I was looking at a spa villa but there are no pictures of the external view of this type of room. There are pictures of the pool villas that have their own pools. The description does not even say if the spa is inside or outside.

We put our family and friends in the Anantara a few times but it's a bit out of town.

I've stayed at the marriott before, I really like the place. Just booked with a company called Travel Republic for our stay in June, £51 per night bed & breakfast for 2 adults & a child, can't be bad!

Only problem with the Marriot is beating the Northern Europeans to bagging the Sunbeds at the crack of dawn!!!!

I like the Hilton for its Location and I've enjoyed a stay at the Sofitol and the Hyatt both were as nice.
I,ve looked around the Sofitol villas and they was not really for me. Ive also stayed at the old Regent (now a Holiday Inn ?) at Cha-am which was always nice but is a bit far out from town. Any of the top end ones and I,m sure you wont be disappointed.
From my own point of view the more I visit, the more I prefer smaller hotels, not the larger chains.

We didn't have that problem to be honest, we found the place pretty quiet in June.

Apart from that, the pool attendants were removing towels from unused sunbeds, that was 2 years ago though, things may have changed.

If they don't remove towels, I don't have a problem with doing it anyway, one of my pet hates that!

Putahracsa Hua Hin, Just returned from a week hotel Putahracsa! Wow, what an experience. The friendly staff, the personally service, the extra's(like complimentary tuktuk shuttle into town,2 min. drive), fruit and local herb drink at the pools with lovely beds and clean towels, the wonderful Oceanside restaurant, the hospitality of all.

Check for online offers at the Sofitel thru' 'low-season', you used to be able to get very good deals for 'mid-year' stays. dunno if they still do em,but worth a look?

While I have not been to Hua Hin since the mid '80s, I just checked the hotel reviews on TripAdvisor today and the Sofitel seems to be the clear winner there.
