Not sure that the "lost" card route is a a good one, particularly if the bank decide to investigate it and it delays things.
I simply walked into my bank one time back home, explained that although I had almost a year left on the card, I'd like a new one as I lived in Thailand and it would save the bank the trouble and risk of sending it.
I had a new card within a week-10 days.
Nice one lomuamart, when we move I will have about 9 months left on my card, i will do as you suggest and visit my bank about a month before we are due to move.

Cheers for that my friend I had missed that, we are with the Halifax and now you come to mention it, I am sure they dont charge for ATM withdrawls either.
