Where can I get an awning/sun shade?

Post by Jaime »

We have a driveway, covered in typical Thai developer style by a large canopy structure. We are having the driveway refinished for use as a patio whether it is hot and raining or hot and sunny.

In the afternoons the canopy does not provide enough shade on sunny days so I want to get some awnings fitted that we can pull down when its too sunny and then retract when not required.

They need to be attractive and robust - canvas maybe.

Any such thing available in Hua Hin?

There are two types I know of having considered them for my house once. Go to Home Pro and ask about crank out awnings. They used to have a display on the left hand hardware side down the aisle towards the back by the furniture. Crank out awnings and just plane roll down type like simple shades. Don't have to purchase there as I am sure you can find other suppliers as I have seen quite a few of them at home improvement shows in Bangkok.

Jamie - We had a similar problem, if just a roll down type would do, then I would suggest a bamboo blind. Fairly robust, provide shade - but more importantly also allow the breeze to come through.

There's a place in Hua Hin, just over the fly-over and past Big Kuang, on the left hand side just before the swimming pool center. There's a row of furniture places.... sorry can't remember the name (if I ever knew it)!!
