extending visa..

Post by pinky »

Hi everyone.. I am on a 1 year non imm o visa (multi entry) that runs out in May.. I know i can extend this by another 3 months by leaving the country, in effect getting 15 months out of it.. BUT is it possible to extend it by 30 days to save me exiting the country by visiting the local immigration office in Hua Hin?? I have a flight already booked and can prove my departure date..
Have tried to find this in the threads.. but cant..
So many thanks for any and all info.. Cheers

I think that you'll only get an extension of 7 days on your Non O visa.
You might get lucky, so it's worth a visit to ask and take your ticket along. However, I think you'll be told to exit the country to get the extra time you need.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Definitely a 7 day extension at the imm. office, I had one last December. Its only a day's run to Ranong, for a visa run.

If your current permission to stay is based on marriage to a Thai, or if you have a child who is a Thai citizen, I think it should be possible for you to get the 30 days especially since you can prove you will depart within that 30 day period.

Why don't you pay a visit to the immigration office and ask their boss whether it is possible or not?

That's right, stgrhe. 60 day extensions are allowed in those circumstances.

Hi. thanks for all your replies.. no i am not married to a Thai.. but i was told (maybe another urban myth) that i could extend my visa for 60 days at the immigration office?? Just wanted to check it out with you guys first.. I had also been told that i could extend my non imm o from 15 months to 17 months this way??
Looks like a trip to Immigration and more likely Ranong is on the cards..
Thanks anyway..

It's always worth going along to Imm to ask the question. You never know your luck and you do have the return ticket.
As said above, the 60 day extension is for those married to a Thai and those supporting a Thai child.
