The Red Cross Fair is this year situated at Sip Gow Rai. This is the same yearly event that has previously been held on Nebkehardt Road.
It started on Friday and continues (I think) until Friday 7th May.
Many out of town market stalls selling everything, from Solid wood furniture, Clothes, Leather goods, Guitars, DVD's and anything else you could think of.
If you like to buy plants for the garden, this place is a must go. Every plant, shrub or tree and at very good prices often less than half the local Garden shop prices.
The Market is on both sides of the road so walk up one side and return down the other, the road was free of cars last night with the odd motorcycle going by. Food stalls everywhere and some very tasty things to find. At the end of the market is a central seating area surrounded by food and drink stalls, this makes for an entertaining hour or so stop off before either continuing onto the Fairground Attractions with Bumper Cars, Merry Go Rounds and try your luck stalls, or just walking on the opposite side of the road and the stalls there on your way back to the car. Plenty of good, well organised parking (20 baht).
Sip Gow Rai (19 Rai). - Heading north out of town towards Cha Am. Turn right at the traffic lights directly after the King's Palace. Follow this road down and around to the left. Keep going until you meet up with a Parking Marshal who will direct you to a parking space.
Spent a very pleasing evening there last night (4 hours) with some cheap beer, good food and plenty of bargains to boot.

Re: Red Cross Fair
Thanks a lot for PSA of this event.
Hmm... That's odd usually the Red Cross fair is held in the end of August early September time frame.
Everything changes these days which is good.

Re: Red Cross Fair
the understudy,
I think there might be two of them if you reckon it happens Aug/Sept time.
I live close to Nebkehardt and over the past few years it's always been April/May time.
I'll take a look around again this year and the change of venue sounds sensible. Agree about the plants, JD, except that last year I decided to surprise the missus with four bulbs. The stall keeper told me that they'd take a year to come up and indeed they did. However they look like stringy triffids, not the colourful plants he claimed they would be.
I wuz robbed. Can I get a refund?
This year I'll take the botanical expert with me

From what I remember when we lived on Naebkehardt, it kicked off around 5 pm, expect it is the same at Sip Gow Rai.

I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Someone mentioned golf shirts in a previous thread - you can get decent quality light feeling material golf shirts here for 150 baht!
