Buksida, have you had much trouble on the B/M visa & does the M mean multiple entry/12months?
No major problems with the visas, the 'M' means media, its very similar to a 'B' visa just more hoops to jump through and more paperwork acquiring and extending it.
SJ is correct about the points system, though through my experience the financial status points were the lions share of it.

I don't believe that's how it works, the below guideline was issued by immigration for the points system to obtain Thai Citizenship, I understand that it's a similar system for PR.

I believe I stated that these were my findings through my experience with the system, not with what was written on a website somewhere.

It is all in the thread I directed cozza to above, further discussion on PR should be continued there, this one is about a non-O visa at Hua Hin immigration.

Hello fellow exapts My question is closely related to Homers. I am currently living within Hua-Hin and have been for nearly 2 months. I hold a multi entry non-immagrent 'O' visa and my stamp states that I have until mid June. Now I am aware I need to get it extended or stamped again before for this date, but do I have to go on a visa run to combodia, or can I simply go to the immigration office in Hua-Hin and get it done there?
IF I do have to embark on a visa run, what would be the easiest and safest option? Thank you for your time, if you can help me out I would be much appreciative, tom
The multi-entry non O you have allows unlimited entries into Thailand, giving you 90 days each time you re-enter - until the visa expires. You must exit Thailand though and get entry and exit stamps from another country for this to happen.
Alternatively, you can extend the Non O visa within 30 days of the expiry of any 90 day permitted to stay stamp. To do that, you'll need to qualify - usual routes are married to a Thai or over 50 - and meet the financial requirements. The extension will be for a year. You only need to report to local Imm every 90 days then. This is done locally in HH.
If you don't qualify for an annual extension, then a border run will be necessary. Everyone has their favourites but Ranong and over to Burma and back is the closest point to HH. It's safe.
So you suggest heading Burma way yea?? If that is the case, what would you suggest would be the best way to go about it? I have used the bus service to get around Thailand up until now, its cheap and easy. Been from bangkok to phuket, to Phang nga, chumpong, ranong and hua hin. But would it be easier to use one of the visa run companies?
Also, would I have to spend a night/day in Burma, or can I literally hop ove rthe boarder then back in an hour or so?
Sorry about all the questions lol, one last one ^.^ I have heard that people need to take some fotos of themselves on a visa run, but surely if I am getting a simple stamp on my visa, I do not need to bother with this??
Check the bus times in HH. There was one that used to go at about 8am to Phuket and dropped you off at Ranong. It'll take about 6 hours and you need to be stamped out of Thailand by 3.30pm I think or else Burmese Imm is closed. There are fairly regular buses back to HH. Again about 6 hours.
There's no need to stay in Burma. Just get your stamps and return on the boat. I've never heard of getting photos. Last time I was there, Imm took a photo on a web cam. Maybe that's what was being talked about?
If I were you, I'd go a day early. If the bus is really late from BKK you might miss Imm. If that's the case, take the train to Chumphon, stay overnight and then minibus the next morning to Ranong. You should do it in a day though.
Ah ok, thanks I have a far better understanding of what I am doing now I am sure that after the first attempt, it will be a breeze every time after that.
I have been reading up on the Ranong/burma boarder run and it has thrown up a couple more hazy areas for me. I think I should stay over for one night in Ranong to be safe, and as you suggested leave a day earlier, well if I stay over 2 days earlier just in case something does happen to go wrong. But I have heard about people needing a 10 dollar bill for when they are in Burma.. is this for the people who need to actually geta new visa, and not just a stamp like I would need for my multiple entry visa?
I have stayed in Ranong before for several days, however I never saw any port, estuary or stretch of water. It could be that I was in a different part of the town/city, I do not know. Thank you for your help though, I would be pretty lost without your input ..
The Thai Imm place for the long tail boats is about 3-4 kms south of the town centre. You do need 10USD for your entry and exit stamps to Burma. You can't get a Thai visa on the Burmese side as there isn't a Thai Embassy or consulate there.
If you want more information on the run, take a look through the Legal,Visa etc forum. There's plenty of stuff there. Alternatively, start a new topic so we can keep this thread clear for Non O questions.
Thanks.

Local offices do provide this service and after Imm was decentralised, HH is the place you should go if you're staying here.
Hope that's clearer. You've already visited Imm to get their checklist, so you're more than halfway there. Good luck and let us know how you get on. There aren't many of us on the forum who've gone this route, so your experiences will be valuable information.

Thanks for the clarification. Assuming I get the embassy letter and bank account in time I will go this route and will post a followup on the the steps I had to go through.
Didn't get the embassy letter in time because didn't want to go to Bangkok while the red shirts were encamped. Next month will return from Malaysia with either a Non-Imm 'O' visa or another Tourist Visa and will take it from there. If it's a Tourist Visa, I'll upate this thread with what happens when try to get the Non O.
