Download the stuff then watch it.
If you don't have any downloader programs then just google it or try to find it here: http://download.cnet.com/windows

A faster connection or perhaps more installed memory will be helpful, but more expensive.

Thanks Norseman. Connection speed I have to put up with. Memory and laptop power are more than adequate

I download a lot of movies, I download to Real Player and watch later (most movies take about an hour or so to download)
The can watch them whenever
The wind blows cold on brake and heath
The weeping willows cry
The mountains dark are jagged teeth
Against a leaden sky.

But for youtube-videos you need a special downloader.
I use http://free-youtube-download.en.softonic.com/

It takes a very long time to download with my EDGE-Modem, but I can do other things in the meantime.

Is there any similar software as that for UTube, to download and save audio and video that is only made available in streaming format ?
I'm thinking of some of some of the programmes on BBC iplayer and all the programmes on Channel4 and other TV on-demand services.

One good way is to cut out the middleman: on the embedded video right-click and choose "watch on youtube". You'll go directly to youtube to watch the video without the messy embedding/buffering sequence

Works like charm at least on Google Chrome.

Richard,

'Internet Download Manager' (IDL) is the business, lightning quick: http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/
First you get a free 30 day trial and then you have to do a serial number fudge or timeclock stop (only for that program) from one of the hack sites. It does videos, music, PDF's etc.

Or to download in YouTube, just add the word 'kiss' before youtube, ie: www.kissyoutube.com/watchxyzpornclip

Maybe it was fortunate that the MOD's top brass declined your offer to define MOD's IT strategy, and showed you the door. :D

I did not know the trick with the kiss. This works O.K., about the same speed as with the download software.

If the video is embedded, you can right click on "Watch on You Tube" first.

I use Firefox web browser and if you are using the same browser as me, you can use a add on downloader like this one: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/13990/
Simple and very easy to use.

A stand alone Bit Torrent downloader can be downloaded here : http://www.bittorrent.com/?client=bittorrent6400

The possibilities are endless so you just have to find one downloader that works good enough for you.
