Sending money to UK?

Post by newbie »

Hope some one can help. I need to send quite a large sum of money back to the UK - is it right that I can send up to $20k per day without needing any paperwork? Does anyone know what the charges are likely to be on around 32k sterling and would I also have to pay charges in the UK, too? Any idea of how long transactions would take?

Sorry to ask so many questions but seem to be getting nowhere fast trying to get this info myself. Can anyone also tell me where I'd likely get this info in a form to satisfy my (UK) solicitors ..... :banghead:

Cheers in advance!

Find a friend who has a link to a business partner in the UK

Do a deal and he will send it for you

Just transfer via the bank, ask them how much to transfer

Thanks for replying.

Unfortunately, I have to return the money as it's tied up legally by the UK courts so can't use anyone else. I'm in the UK so can't ask at my Thai bank about charges etc. Was hoping that someone on the site might have the info or could point me in the right direction......

I've tried it with several banks, they all wanted paperwork and a valid reason, or proof you bought it into Thailand in the first place.

Maybe someone else has more info.

Obviously the amount you need to transfer is more but I transferred 13k recently, reason I gave was "payment of debt" and that was fine (Bangkok Bank).

Ask bank how much you can transfer
Give acceptable reason - payment of debt, buy house, buy car etc (They do not ask for proof.
Proof on money entering Thailand should be available from your Thai bank or UK bank (unless you brought the money in a suitcase then there may be problems)
