Id usually file this into the mind bin had I not spent the last two nights listening to the bar girls chattering about it. Seems some are scared because the bars are so close to the seafront..... I laughed, then just shrugged it off as a poor education and a shame.....
Then the cherry on the cake.... now Mrs S is thinking twice about a house purchase as its near the beach and she doesnt want to get washed away by the supposed Tsunami (ignoring of course the fact that Thai fortune tellers are all a pack of lying snake oil salesmen).
Ive even tried sitting her down with Googy Earth and showing her the local plate tectonics and trying to explain that a tsunami sweeping up the gulf would be rare as rocking horse do do and improbable as Thaksin telling the truth. No hope..... no matter how carefully and simply I explain the science she still thinks the snake oil salesmen have the authority.
so....
1) Has a tsunami ever hit this coast (even waaaaaay back when)...they do leave traces behind in the geological record.
2) Doesnt anyone in authority here ever take on these dimwit chicken gut fondlers and publicly rake them over the coals for spreading false information and scaring the cack out o people?
