Don't forget to make your picks - Just a few days to go now, with the Currie Cup kicking off on Friday with the Leopards taking on the Lions.

The Tri-Nations Championship kicks off this coming Saturday with last seasons Champions and RWC winners South Africa taking on the joint favorites New Zealand at Eden Park, Aukland.

Well, the first round done and dusted for both the Currie Cup and Tri-Nations.........

A BIG result for the AB's trouncing the World Champions by 20pts, but importantly gaining a bonus point in the process by scoring a fourth try in the final minutes..... Surprisingly, the Bokke did not cross the try-line  - how important is that going to be at the end of the tournament?

More misery for SA, after news that Bakkies Botha has been banned for 9 weeks and will miss the entire tournament..... Can be a great player, but what a muppet at times!! :banghead: :banghead:

On the Currie Cup, the big news being the Sharks' loss to the Griquas by 6 points in a 74 point, 10 try thriller!!

For any out there bored with the performance of the overpaid, whining buggers at the FIFA World Cup, give rugby a go!!

Doesn't it seem strange that South Africa plays New Zealand twice in two weeks, both in New Zealand? Am I correct or seeing the schedule wrong? Perhaps since it's only 3 nations, they arrange things like this. :? Pete

Each of the Tri Nations teams play 3 home and 3 away games each season, playing their 2 ''foes'' 3 times. Home advantage alternates each season - for 2010: -

NZ host SA twice, with one game away.
Aus host SA once, playing twice away.
Aus host NZ twice, with one game away.

SA certainly need to lift their game after last week's drubbing at the hands of NZ - it's going to be a hard old game, expect to see a couple of yellow cards...

With this Currie Cup we seem to be rank amateurs in a field of expert South African's. Even with Pharvey in the lead at 6.5 points, I don't think he is much higher than about 25,000 out of 47,825. Pete
