I'm locking this thread because as Pete has rightly pointed out, it has been covered on the other thread http://www.huahinafterdark.com/forum/vi ... =4&t=14976 . Please continue any discussion there.

OK, now that Earth has clarified his question on the other thread, I've unlocked this thread again:
As Bigboy closed the post on 'Jazz in the Town' topic then it is mean, there is no 'Jazz in the Town', then only 'Jazz on the beach'. Is this correct? Any guru know please...
So, I think Earth is seeking establishments that play Jazz.

As a starter, I seem to remember that they do something at the Fat Cat Guest House, or at least they have jamming sessions there. http://huahinmedia.com/fatcat.php

If you hit 'translate' in Google for the following links I think we'll see what Earth is referencing from 2008. Pete

I remember being in Hua Hin for this event in 2008; they had a big heineken sponsored bar up near the bus office and a stage by the Kingphet boxer memorial.
I think it was the weekend after the main Jazz festival.

Been there on two occasions, great mellow atmosphere,no queues, you had main stage plus big-screens down the road, loadsa food-stalls,much more orientated for HH people,low-key,yet big enuf to enjoy...if the HH Ampher laid this event on,then well-done,..I for one enjoyed it... (& I think Jazz music is boring)

Realize it's late in the day, but 2008 was the first and only year of 'Jazz in the Town'.

I think the Tessabaan lords decided to put their resources into taking the Jazz Festival back from the promoters who had hijacked it and turned it into a youth beach party. They're making progress. This year's festival was pretty good.

Here is an update of jazz in the Hua Hin Area:

The annual Hua Hin jazz Festival takes place in June (dates to be announced). Location: Beach at Hilton/Sofitel and Tessaban Square.

In season you may find jazz in HH at

1) Rays Place (Mondays and Thursdays).
2) Chez Loulou (Wednedsdays)
3) Fat Cat Guesthouse (any time when the owner/trumpet player is in the mood)
4) Beginning November, there are jam sessions at the Ban Chang Restaurant i Cha Am on Sundays. Definately worth a trip.

Coco 51 no longer has a jazz band. The owner of the Fat Cat played there regularly for a couple of years but was discontinued a few months ago. There is now some sort of pop music.

In season you may hear excellent jazz performed by a Thai band on weekday afternoons at the Market Village square. The same band also plays at a restaurant south of HH on Sundays. I don't have the name of that establishement.

Enjoy!

LP, do they have tables, chairs, umbrellas and some kind of light drink/food service outside there while this is going on? Pete

There are a couple of outdoor cafes where you can listen to the music or, as I often do, just sit on the staircase at the main entrance.

Good info, will check some of them out. Are there any venues that offer live blues or is it all just jazz?
