You will find in the wet season when it's cold it's even more normal to drink those really small bottles of whisky to keep warm.
All the old foke seem to chew beatle nut that leaves a very bad red stain around there mouths but I am told it has mild narcotic properties.
Over here in Blighty my wifes friend from Udon jokes with her saying "people from Surin don't like wisky" and they always find this funny.

Yes, actually Surin is a surprisingly good night out and I've never noticed the people around there abstaining too much!

I never saw drunk teens up in Lopburi but I was offered a snort at 7am many times by the XGF's uncle. Every night was basically a piss-up but somehow they managed to be out in the paddies at dawn.

The only time I ever remember seeing excessive drinking in my wife's village was at our wedding where all the men (including me) got smashed, but then I was buying.

From what I read in this thread, surely someone is writing " A year in Issan or Thailand", similar to the best seller "a year on Provence"? I certainly found much entertainment humour and knowledge is his epistles from Issan. The potential Ex-Pats are still coming and the curious are out there.

Jimbob

Give me a publisher I could approach and I could string a book together based on my articles

Richard,

You could use one of the online book publishing services some of which are reviewed here:

Yes PET, I noticed that a few days ago and out of curiosity I searched his posts and the last few did not seem to contain the offending one. I also searched Grim Reaper's posts to see if I could figure out this mystery but no results came up that explain the suspension. I won't ask for an explanation though, as I don't want to get suspended myself! :|
