The latest update on the ferry is as follows:

The new hulls on the catamaran have now been completed and she went back into the water last Tuesday.

The first real examination was this morning when she went out on the first test run: the result was a speed of 22 knots at 2000 r.p.m., which slightly exceeds the desired speed of 20 kn.

Extensive sea trials and surveys will now take place and it is hoped to start the service in September.

Thanks for the updates Barry.
Many on here are negative about this project, I personally see it as a chance (with a little advertising) to lure some tourists away from Pattaya...maybe get them calling HERE on their planned way to Samui/Phuket..???
TOURISTS just may start a two- tier holiday including HH if only a coupla hrs away from Pattaya..??
I wish the project well.

It is difficult to tell, but I certainly hope it is a success, the previous service was an accident waiting to happen

Thank You Barrys for this update!

The understudy is very pleased to hear that the new Hull is exeeding it's goals. This is truly worth an update!
One thing that I concerned of and perhaps you could forward to this very dedicated group that after or during the sea trails a staff training in Safety Procedures would be truly essential in order to be on the safe side!
Other than that I wish this group success all the way!!!!
And I really hope when they become too succesful that they don't get threatned or intimidated by Patt'a shady guys or BIB (Boys'n Brown) wanting their share of the groups success!

Your's The understudy!!!

PS:Trying my best to be one of the very first to use the Yhis Speedboat when it goes into service in. September!!!

Funny you should mention it, but I just came back from a meeting with the Swedish owner 1 hour ago here in Pattaya.

The final survey inspection of the boat is scheduled for 26 September.
If the surveyor is happy with everything then, the boat can go!!

I will post more as soon as I know.
I've been invited to join the maiden voyage to Hua Hin, so I'll be able to give you all the details then.

Oh dear me. Some people in Pattaya will be very happy to see their drunks and bullies go to Hua Hin. Then again, hopefully the traffic goes both ways.... :thumb:

I apoligize if this has been posted before.

After some searching, I found info on the buIt s direct from Pattaya to Hua Hin and back. I bought a ticket yesterday for 270 baht, and right now, I am on this bus. It is quite roomy. It left Pattaya 5 mins early at 17:55. I am the only foreigner on the bus. All Thai people.

It is not a minibus, it is a full sized coach.

I am a new member so the system doesn't allow me to post a URL but if you go to iloveyellowbus dot com, you will see the schedule (route #6). Use Google Translate if you cannot read Thai.

Here is the information I about the above bus service. I called 081-806-1050 - he spoke English very well.

The bus from Pattaya North Bus Station (same one as Bangkok) to "Koh Samui" runs every day, only one bus per day, it is called "the Yellow Bus". It stops at Hua Hin and Surat Thani. It originates in Rayong

You can buy a ticket at Pattaya Bus Station at the same window where you buy a ticket for the Makhasan. Ask for a ticket for the "yellow bus to Hua Hin".

The schedule from Pattaya to Hua Hin is:
Departs Pattaya: 18:00 hrs
Arrives Hua Hin Clock Tower: approx: 22:30, depending on traffic

Hua Hin to Pattaya is a little more unpredictable, as the bus originates at Surat Thani during the day, so the departure time from Hua Hin is variable. I am told it usually departs Hua Hin for Pattaya about 00:00 or 00:30. If you want to depart from Hua Hin to Pattaya, you must call them in advance so they know to stop and pick you up!

If you look at the Google Translate page I linked above, you will see the entire schedule.

Fare Pattaya to HH is 270 baht

FYI, I was told the fare to Surat Thani is 659 baht or 1025 baht, depending on if you have a VIP seat or not. So it is possible that some of these seats are "sleepers" of some kind.

This might be a good alternative to going into Bangkok, or going to Mukdahan and changing buses there. The times of operation are not the best, though, but they are like this because the final destination of this bus is Surat Thani Province; Hua Hin is just a stop along the way.

Finally, here is a picture of a sign advertising the bus.

c746623,

Welcome to the board. Unfortunately, this thread is about the new forthcoming boat service from Pattaya to Hua Hin and back. I note that you've already found the minibus service thread.

Thank you for the good information, but can I please ask that we return the thread to the boat service.

I know this is a silly question, but how is the normal
sea conditions ?
I am very nervous about big waves and heavy sea.
I get seasick in a swimmingpool.
Should I go for the bus ? Here in Norway we can
get a forecast to trust, most of the time.
But in Thailand it seems like the changes in the
weather is a bit more unpredictable , and the
sea as well ?
I would love a short cut with a nice boat trip.
