Hua Hin Golf Festival 2010
Re: Hua Hin Golf Festival 2010
I played Springfield once, but was to embarrassed about the ass-kicking it gave me to mention it on here, but yes, it was 800 baht and the B course was in very good condition, C not so much as they were doing a lot of turf repair there.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Re: Hua Hin Golf Festival 2010
Just a thought, did anyone ask the BM management why they do not take part in the HH golf Fest?
I am not a player myself, but enjoy the occasional lunch at some of the courses around HH every now and then.

Re: Hua Hin Golf Festival 2010
Played Majestic Creek last Friday. Pretty good condition, greens very good, although they have the most 'grain' of any of the courses in Hua Hin, so can be tough to putt. There are some extremely good caddies there that have walked those greens for 10 years and more, most can point you on a fairly good line so you just have to hit it properly
Green Fee 800 baht
Caddie fee: 250 baht
Cart fee: 700 (2 players allowed, as it should be ) I walk all the courses (save Banyan where you are forced), but the missus has some reluctance to exercise
Will report on Lake View on Thursday afternoon or Friday

My wife also plays but can't hit very far (150 yards max). I've never played Majestic so I would like your opinion of the ladies tees. Are they suitably placed so that a short ball hitter like the missus could enjoy the course, i.e., do they have to hit any long shots over water, etc.?
Thanks

Dragon Hills - 550 baht inc green fee/caddy and a meal when done (Pad Kapow/Kao Pat etc). Simply one of the best layouts you could ever want to play, condition is not BM standard but certainly more than good enough for any of us to be very happy with!

JW,
That 550 THB including lunch is on a Monday only, I believe. Wednesdays and Thursdays, it's 500 THB for green fee and caddie, no free lunch.
It's still great value on Tuesdays and Fridays, with normal green fee 560 and caddie 200. I've been there three times recently and look forward to the fourth - the course isn't going to get the better of me next time.
Incidently, the above offer extends to the end of October. I put the link up on golf gossip a few days ago, but the site isn't working today.
Definitely agree with you - a great course.

It was hard enough off medal last time, thanks. Blue tees are not part of my vocabularly and never will beJW wrote:Get on the Blue box fella! Its a tough cookie from there! lol

There's four in most places is there not? I think men can go from white to the yellow when you reach 60 (age, not score ) I often hit my second shot from the red. Re: Hua Hin Golf Festival 2010
I played SF (mostly as being member) , Banyan and Palm Hills aug 1 until aug 14th
Banyan is in great condition, caddies could be better
Palm Hills is in good condition, greens soft but quick, caddies average
SF is general in average condition ( fairways) due to lack of water, greens are good, hard and quick. caddies good as usual..

Re: Hua Hin Golf Festival 2010
Just depends on the course as to how many choices of tee box they give, I think its good to play different tees as it can make a massive difference not only in length but in the whole look of the hole. Some courses here, particularly Springfield/Royal Hua Hin/Krang Kanchan/Dragon do play a lot longer from the back tee. Its even harder when u have bust your driver! Doh!
Re: Hua Hin Golf Festival 2010
The medal tees make the course seem 10 times longer to me. I really should look for a proper driver, not something out of the 60s that I'm playing with at the moment.
Re: Hua Hin Golf Festival 2010
The wife changed from the driver that came with her basic Kasco set to a Callaway FT 9 driver with a 44" shaft and 13 degree loft. The thing is huge and the part behind the hitting head is the size of a coffee saucer. This change alone has put a good 50 yards onto her drive and her average score is rapidly approaching 100. Perhaps there is something to be said about upgrading clubs from time to time. Pete
