They said that no more agree, except if you are young and you are going to study like an exchange student there and you have to have certificate from the school in your country!!!
We were also told by the Thai Laguage -school that never have happened that you can not get it but YES now happened.
Lady from the school called to the embassy in Helsinki but answear was same. NO NO NO...
(I know there is countries that can not accept but Finland is not there on the list) So we have to take only tourist visa to come and see what happens! I have one year work sharing ("sabbath") from my work and house there in Hua Hin. Sad that we have to change all our plans.
I am surprised about what you say. How recent is this? We have processed ED Visa in Helsinki in recent times. May I be impolte and ask your age?
My suggestion would be to proceed to Penang or somewhere nearby and apply.
The so called lauguage schools in the UK and US have been coming under scrutiny lately. There have been many that either do not exist or are just trying to circumvent visa regulations. Only a matter of time in my opinion that the same happens here. Many schools in Thailand are advertising the visa benefits before describing any education.
Bapac; I'm 47, and this happened last week and week before that my friend was treated same.
And we were in Hua Hin last may where we got all the papers with us to show in Finland while we need to request ED visa for coming to study for a year.

Assume that you are now able to open PM. Have just sent you a message.

Rightly so IMO - and looking at the info given earlier by Bapak ie that the student is required to attend only 4 hours per week to qualify for a Thai Ed visa - just incredible and wide open to abuse.
Margaret, there are always some bad apples in the barrel.
The 180 hours of study are what are laid down by the Thailand Ministry of Eduation, which is best achieved thru 4 hours a week. The difference is that we insist on attendance and if not adhered to, we will not provide documents for the required 90 days "Extension of Stay".
I do not believe that this happens in Hua Hin, but it is quite common in Bangkok for some schools not to require attendance.
Well if it's the rules it's the rules Bapak - but 4 hours attendance per week still really doesn't seem like much of a sacrifice.
If - on the other hand - the Thai Min of Ed or whatever insists on extra curricular work as well to supplement the 4 hours of directed learning that would put a different perspective on the whole thing. But I doubt that they do - extra curricular work would need to be validated for such a system to work.
I hope perhaps I am wrong?
