On the ground now. Flight staff found a message (assume in English) written on the mirror in one of the bathrooms. FBI now involved. Will be a long night for all those passengers as none will be released until questioned. Pete

Feds: Threatening note found on plane bound for Los Angeles

Authorities have begun an investigation after they said a threatening message was found scrawled on the lavatory mirror of a Thai Airways plane indicating a bomb was on board.

Thai Airways flight 794, en route from Bangkok, landed safely at Los Angeles International Airport shortly before 9 p.m. (12 a.m. ET Wednesday). It was taken to a remote area where it was met by police, the Transportation Security Administration said.

The message was found written on a mirror in the plane's lavatory, the TSA said.

"So far, there is no evidence suggesting that there was a bomb on board" said Laura Eimiller of the FBI's Los Angeles office.

"FBI is taking all precautions and conducting a thorough investigation to render the plane safe."

Bomb technicians and canine units were on the scene late Tuesday night. The plane's passengers and crew were being interviewed. Luggage was being rescreened, Eimiller said.

"Law enforcement is taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of the passengers and crew, and will conduct an investigation to ascertain the person or group responsible for making the threat," the airport said.
