Re: Premier League 2010-2011
Hi Arcadian! I can see you lurking!

Re: Premier League 2010-2011
Sunderland deserved their point, they played good football without resorting to the "Allardyce" school of tactics, some inconsistent refereeing though, yellow cards flashed for some fouls but not for worse ones.
Re: Premier League 2010-2011
Interesting comment about Allardyce. I think he's becoming a deeply unpleasant person with a huge chip on his shoulder. And his teams reflect his personality, there was pretty unpleasant stuff against Fulham which completely unhinged Schwar...you know who I mean!
For me, its been an odd, flat start to the season. I mean, what happens at Everton and their slow starts? It has to be down to Moyes preparation of the team as it keeps happening and then they play catch up and just miss out on everything. Seasons over already really, wierd.
Villa are in a state of flux, Newcastle are taking advantage of everyone's else's slow start and doing themselves no harm in the process and as for Man City? Its too early to work out what will happen there.
I wouldn't write off United just yet, but agree that at the moment they don't seem the power they were. They, like England, are very reliant on Rooney and currently Scholes and he's getting on now. I know Berbatov has nicked a few goals, but can he at the very top level, where Utd expect to be?
I still have a suspicion that Liverpool will have a better season that most think and at least they now have a manager who seems to be able to get the '2nd tier' playing, so maybe not always having to be reliant on the big two all the time?
Chelsea have started at a stroll (hope I don't regret saying that) and getting Essian back is like signing a new 30m international star, but just like the scousers and Utd, its an ageing team.
Spurs are inconsistent and I suspect that will be the nature of their season and as for the Arse - Gawd knows! I think genuine complaints yesterday about the time added on, but as ever, they had chances earlier to seal the win, including a missed penalty, and didn't. They still look frail at the back to me which undermines everything else they do. This seems Wengers blind spot as its hardly a new problem.

i couldn't believe bramble wasn't booked for that knee high scythe on wilshereArcadian wrote:yellow cards flashed for some fouls but not for worse ones.

as for the game, at the final whistle i was looking for excuses (like all fans do

so . . . was it the the ref & song's sending off?
there was nothing malicious in either offence but it has been long overdue for him.
he's not a nasty player in the slightest but does commit far to many niggling & unnecessary fouls.
that's a no then

the ref & going over the time added on?
it's a minimum of 4 mins, sometimes it goes slightly over, no excuse . . . get over it arsene

another no

rosicky's pen miss? would've been curtains for s'land but pens are sometimes missed

another no,

clichy's poor attempt to clear the ball at the death?
should've put his laces through it

& yet another no

all in all, just one of those days.
sunderland played well & deserved something from the game . . . still a bit of a choker though

A real chip wouldn't last very long near Allardyce.
Did you hear his comments yesterday? He thinks he should be managing the likes of Real or Inter and that he'd win the double every year if he was at Utd or Chelsea. The man is deluded and he thinks he's a cutting edge manager because he wears a Britney Spears mic. Very unlikeable bloke and he is his biggest and only fan.

agree with the essien bit, but to be fair, the fixtures computer has given you a pretty kind opening to the seasoncaller wrote:

i actually thought we did well defensively yesterday (apart from clichy's poor clearence at the end).as for the Arse - Gawd knows! we dealt with the bombardment as well as you could expect.
to be fair, there was no v persie, walcott, diaby, vermaelen & bendtner in the squad & fab went off after scoring that 30 yard screamer!!

our problem is the same as last year, to many sicknotes

it's quite baffling how we end up with so many injuries & it is apparently being investigated by the medical staff on wenger's orders

& the difference between allardyce chewing gum & a cow chewing a cud of grass?? . . .
the intelligent look on the cow's face

Re: Premier League 2010-2011
The gum-chewing style is the only resemblance Allardyce has to Ferguson. As to managing the likes of Real, Barcelona, Inter etc. he would soon teach them the errors of their ways playing FOOTBALL, that`s a game for Southern softies.
BTW I watched the match on my laptop using ATDHE.com. Fairly good quality picture.

Re: Premier League 2010-2011
Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson: "This match has come a little bit early. Five games into the season is a poor time for barometer readings - they need to come at least a third of the way through the season. I would be very surprised if the intelligent people out there who understand the season is a marathon not a sprint will start reading too much into a defeat for one or the other teams."
Yeah Bodgeson...lets talk positive.
You are at Liverpool now.
How long for Bodgeson...go for number 2 ..Delia Smith
Down 2 nil

BBC Sport's Phil McNulty at Old Trafford: "Sir Alex Ferguson insists Manchester United are not frail at the back - they simply have lapses in concentration. Sorry Sir Alex, frail it is and they have just proved it by allowing a Liverpool team they have comprehensively outplayed back into this game. A grandstand finish - who would have thought it?"

This is a great result for Arsenal so far.
Liverpool now at 16 and 5 points...cough,cough.
How the great have fallen so far

Whilst looking for a live stream for the Chelsea match I came across a relevant Freudian slip when you consider the sleazeball in charge - Chelsea vs Baulkpool

Championship Plymouth Argyle 1 - 2 Leeds Utd
Points 46; Position 23 RELEGATED

Re: Premier League 2010-2011
Disaster, lost at Old Trafford. John O'Shea should've gone but that's to be expected. Liverpool were poor 1st half, a little better the second. Not the sort of result that's going to make any difference to our season and it's out of the way. Meh.
