I am in Bangkok most of the time and own a Condo there. My visa records, and therefore my retirement extension is done in Hua Hin, as I have a house there as well. My 90 day report was due on last Monday, and as I am in Bangkok I went via BTS / MRT to the new "one stop service centre" at Chamchuree Sq building, accessible from Sam Yan MRT station. I have reported here one time before, I think it was 6 months ago, without any problem. This time: "cannot do here"!
A long discussion followed with the officer who was most apologetic, and said that she also thought it was ridiculous that I could not do it there. She then went and got a notice, printed in English, that was displayed on the front desk.

"Oh, that is wrong, she says, we will have to change it". So I politely requested to see "the boss" that she kept referring to as "she". "Have to wait, busy". OK. I wait, fully expecting to be ignored, but after about 10 minutes she came and took me to the "boss", who turned out to be a bloke that spoke good English, AND has a house in Hua Hin!
He also agreed that it was wrong not to be able to do it at any office, and told me that it had only changed with the last change of the "big boss". It also has something to do with which sub-division the office is. He did tell me that if I was away from Hua Hin, for example Koh Samui like I was a couple of months ago, then the report CAN be done at those offices.
The upshot of it was that I had to go to the "main" office in Chaeng Wattana Rd. For anybody that has never been there it is worth going just to look at the building itself, plus several other huge buildings in the same area, including the armed forces headquarters. Any country that can construct buildings like that can not be called "third world"!
Immigration have only one part of the building, and it was very busy but well organised. I had to wait in the queuing system for about 50 minutes with 41 people ahead of me. The report was accepted without comment, apart from complaining about the poor quality photo copy form, which had been given to me by Hua Hin office!
So, virtually 2 days wasted, although better than having to drive to Hua Hin just to lodge the report. I did ask about doing it by email, but got the blank look for my effort! I believe that it can be done by registered post, but if the last couple of days run around is any indication I have my doubts about that.
