It's quite a drama developing over the club. This pair are highly connected in the U.S. so I would expect courts to have a bias towards them. It could be a long drawn out fight.

Not sure if you've seen this article already but Harry Redknapp doesn't see a problem with the owners... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... flops.html

I certainly have seen it, it was very good of Harry to do a bit of basic research before doing a column in a national newspaper.

Harry Redknapp, the man who knows all about football finances.

Here's two articles in reply by people who have knowledge on the subject, unlike Redknapp who gets almost every single thing in his article wrong, even praising the owners for signing a player they didn't sign, if he can't get the most basic fact right then he shouldn't even bother going into facts and figures.

Looks like this may drag out a bit longer that expected. Can't see Gillet & Hicks giving up without a fight.

No, they're now trying to sue Liverpool FC and RBS for $1.6 billion. :tsk:

I'm sure he will be, money well spent considering that H&G will be paying it because they lost the case.

That's exactly what they are, unfortunately the mainstream media still allow people like Redknapp to publish such uninformed rubbish, which then gets taken as gospel.

5.21pm:Judge rules that anti-suit injunction wanted by RBS and other parties (board) against owner's action in Texas is granted.

Mr Justice Floyd "Be it duly noted by the court, this case has nothing to do with Texas."

After reading a report of the latest judgement in the High Court I was amused at the arrogance of H&G thinking that a court in Texas could have influence over an all-English legal battle. Are they just being obstructive? Surely they cannot believe that USA rules the world, well, not in sport anyway.

I think they are yes.

By building a winning side though judging by his previous ventures, H&G were a disgrace, as they are proving now.

Hicks has previous.

John W Henry's New England Sports Ventures are the new owners of Liverpool FC and the decision to ratify the £300 million takeover was taken with a secret vote on Wednesday night at the London headquarters of the club's lawyers Slaughter & May.

While the focus of media attention was naturally on the eye-catching Texan court action by Tom Hicks and George Gillett, the Liverpool board, calmly led by chairman Martin Broughton, continued to convene their meeting and take a vote on the NESV takeover.

Broughton and his legal advisors, with Henry having already arrived at the lawyers' offices, felt they were on safe ground after the High Court judgement on Wednesday morning ordered Hicks and Gillett to reconvene the board as it was before they tried to sack two members and install their own nominees in order to halt the sale.

Despite all the legal wrangling in the courts on both sides of the Atlantic, ESPNsoccernet understands that everything is already in place for the takeover. NESV have a legally binding water-tight contract, and all the loose ends are virtually tied up, and this is the reason why fellow Peter Lim has walked away from attempting to muscle in on a takeover.

Of course, there remains one loose end, and that is the Texan court, but NESV, Broughton and their advisers do not believe that this can be effective and stop the sale being completed. However, more legal action, certainly law suits for damages from Hicks and Gillett, is inevitable.

Quote of the day.

So, Hicks to put efforts into mega lawsuit. An outrageously large and disgusting figure. (And the $1.6bn is excessive, too).
