Re: Exchange rate info please.
Well, I tried my first attempt to cash a T/C at a kiosk yesterday - absolutely no problems whatsoever.

Travellers Cheques in GBP or USD may seem a bit old-fashioned but are a good safe alternative to taking cash especially if you can buy them commission free.
If not, then M & S stores have a low commission charge of 1% on purchase and no further charge for cashing in again if you have any left over on return.
It's best to buy them using cash otherwise there is an additional charge levied by VISA and collected by your bank if the debit card has a VISA symbol on it.
Don't even think of using a credit card to purchase them as the charges are much higher.
(regarded as a cash withdrawal with no free interest period).
In HH, if you don't want to use a street kiosk, the bank branches upstairs in Market Village are open every day until 7pm, one of them until 9pm.
As Big Boy stated large denominations are useful to save on the per cheque commission fee (approx.30 Baht per cheque). The rate is always slightly better for cheques then cash but not by much.
Some banks ask for your address in HH after making a copy of your passport - others don't seem to bother.
They also seem to phone up the cheque company to get clearance so it's never as quick as a doing a cash exchange.

Don,t buy in the UK. Better at the airport when you arrive.
