Info on the Green Rally would also be good please. Yet again very little advertised locally - there's been more in the Bangkok Post about the Green Rally - I've seen nothing yet locally about either of these events. Are we on the planet zog?

Re: Hua Hin Bike Week 2010
There does seem to be some confusion. Every source I've looked at says Dec. 3-4 this year.
But yesterday, a huge pack of bikers blew in and set up a big party (much like the one pictured for last year) at the 19 rai. Very good blow-out, but how any of us would have known is beyond me!

Re: Hua Hin Bike Week 2010
Mags mentioned here earlier about the 'Green Rally'..or more its lack of local advertising of the said event.
I've said this for years about HH..never,ever any billing about forthcoming events/attractions.
As Mags rightly said..if you wanna learn whats going on/coming up in HH you gotta read the BKK Post.
Maybe the Amphur could make better use of that Matrix sign outside their building at the traffic-lights..??
There is certainly a missing link in the chain here, but how to fix it is beyond me..HH amphur office is just like
any council office in the UK..lots of pompous staff who think they're important, but actually over the week
apart from a televised meeting everyday do sod all except practice being as un-helpful & awkward as possible from behind their glass panel. Someone needs to introduce the concept of promotion to them..& not leave it all up to the organisers.

Unfortunately the Tessaban and Amphur do not see the need for announcements in English, frankly the really don’t give a damm about foreign tourists.
I get all my information from my wife or her family and sometimes that is after the event.

Dates make sense, its a Friday and Saturday and the Sunday is HMK's birthday - thanks for the update.
Yes, the lack of English language promotion for these events is staggering in a town that thrives on tourism but as rightly pointed out above they don't seem to give a flying fck about aliens here.

Re: Hua Hin Bike Week 2010
It seems like most of the Hua Hin locals move onto greater things, by taking advantage of property or land that they may have inherited and most of the Tessaban and Amphur jobs are now taken by non locals and they probably don’t give a damm about Hua Hin and its foreign tourists.
Now the definition of an non local according to my wife is if you are not born in Hua Hin you are a not a local, even if you have lived here for 20 years plus.
The funny thing about that is just recently my wife started to wear a helmet when she goes out on her bike and when I asked her why, she replied that more and more of the cops are not locals and she can’t be bothered with the hassle.

Re: Hua Hin Bike Week 2010
The Hua Hin Poster Department has been out in force plastering the town with Bike Week banners (at least they're in English this time) confirming the 3rd and 4th dates at 48 Rai.

Re: Hua Hin Bike Week 2010
The preparations have begun but I was a little amused to see a Red Shirt rally on the 48 rai site last night. Turnout was very low when I drove past in the late afternoon (around 25 people) but no doubt as soon as the political ranting was over some nationalistic Carabao songs came on, the lao flowed, and the turnout increased a little!

I was in Chiang Mai over LoiKrathon and was very pleasantly surprised to hear a full explanation of the festival given out in English over the loudspeakers while the procession passed. You could actually hear it properly as well!buksida wrote:Dates make sense, its a Friday and Saturday and the Sunday is HMK's birthday - thanks for the update.

In HuaHin tourists are left standing gawping and not knowing what the f... is going on.

Quick bump for this one as it is going on this afternoon and evening - a must see for anyone that likes bikes, live music and a good atmosphere.

Hmmm - well I'm no wimp when it comes to rock gigs. Even survived Blue Oyster Cult once - but I'm afraid that first band last night drove me out pretty quickly. Don't they use a mixer desk? (Sorry - daft question)
