Hua Hin immigration has moved

Post by brianks »

This morning I went by Three Girls restaurant heading north on the Klong Road and sign on left side of street said IMMIGRATION and pointed to restaurant. I would assume they are now moved in as it appeared so when I looked over to my right on passing. Won't be as easy to get to for those without a car as old location was with the baht bus.

Yes, Office moved a few days ago. Good for some, worse for others. There seems to be more room in the new quarters. Also there is ample parking space. A taxi or Tuk-Tuk will gladly take you there.....And you can have a meal or a drink at the Three Girls while waiting.
In total, methinks, a move for the better...

Although I've been to The Three Girls restaurant before, I'm not sure which soi it's near on the canal road. Looking at the HHAD area map, is it close to soi 10, 6 or 2?

Soi 10 by the HH hospital

Someone mentioned earler, that the office in Prachuabkirikhan was closing and their was moving to HH. Has this happened or is likely to happen?

Should have added the other day that I agree with other posters above that the new office is an improvement.
I was there for my 90 days. Fairly early arrival time and there were a few people waiting in front of me. One officer came along and asked why I was there and took me outside for the relevant form - they're all laid out on desks. You take a number from the one of the desks outside to get in the queue (maybe they'll revert to the electronic system they had before in a while?) and was seen very quickly. In and out in less than 10 minutes.
For those without their own transport (like me), I just took a songthaew to HH Hospital and then a motorcycle taxi - 30 THB - to Imm. The riders already knew of the change of location. When I mentioned the restaurant they just said "visa, visa"? I decided to walk back to Petchkasem. With a songthaew back home, I was away for less than an hour in total. Not too demmanding.

I went for my 90 day just before 11 a.m. on Tuesday and the place was swamped. Inside was full (no place left to sit) and there was a crowd at two desks outside too. They need to go back to the electronic number system as the place was so noisy and a few of the officers either don't speak English or don't want to. There were lots (20 to 30) numbers ahead of me but I still got served within 15 minutes because they would call a number and the person either didn't hear, didn't understand, or had given up and left so lots of numbers were just called a couple of times, then it was on to the next one. I had to stand by the wall near the desks to hear the numbers so I wouldn't miss when they called mine. All in all, pretty disorganized and I would say the old place worked better so far.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I went there on Wednesday for 90 day reporting - got there at around 11.30, not many people and was in and out in 5 minutes.

I was late for reporting for the first time ever - by about 10 days.
Was told I'd have to pay the fine - after a brief chat I was given the option: 2000 baht with receipt, 1000 baht without!

So Barry, 1000 or 2000?

I always go lunchtime and have often had my paper work checked whilst they are having their after meal fag. Works wonders if you sit and have a coke and a chat and exchange smiles

OK I'm a creep but it's worked so far both here and Khon Kaen :thumb:

I also have a golden rule. Don't turn up smelling of booze and dress up in a sober shirt and longs. Thai officials are very dress conscious
