I'd love to see England get it for the first time since 1966.It would be fantastic news.
Unfortunately,I dont think they will because its too soon after the Olympics were awarded to us for 2012.
I think the decision who hosts it could be political rather than who has the best facilities and infrastructure.
So,I've gone for the Ruskies......but I do hope it is England !

Do not know where the World Cup 2018 is going to be held, but surely not in the Netherlands/Belgium.
There is huge opposition in Holland against many of the FIFA conditions. For example FIFA demands temporary (change of) laws so they will be completely tax exempt. Another thing they demand - just to give one example - is that one highway lane must be closed for the public and reserved for FIFA officials only. Such demands cannot be met in a small country like Holland, where there is enough traffic problems without the World Cup. Apparently a police escort will not be sufficient because they had problems with that in South Africa where despite the escort the FIFA millionaires spend hours in their fancy cars stuck in traffic. In combination with the arrogant "you-can-organize-all-you-want, but-the-money-is-all-ours" attitude I agree with giving the World Cup a miss. Besides we can play the final anywhere, nothing wrong with London.
We are all living in 'the good old days' of the future.

Thursday is voting day for the 2018 and 2022 world cup venues. Seems England are third place favourites behind Russia and Spain/Portugal. Russia? racially abusive fans, huge distances between stadiums and poor internal travel links. Spain/Portugal? Financially destitute. When deciding on an African country before awarding South Africa FIFA stated that joint applications (in this case Tunisia and Libya) would not be considered. As for Qatar for 2022 in the summer heat, are they mad?
The revelations of bribery and corruption as highlighted by The Times and Panorama may have a double bluff effect, with delegates keen not to be associated with skullduggery choosing England to "prove" their innocence. Fat chance though!

when 2 fifa officials are caught red handed attempting to sell their vote, then only get suspended, says it all really.
the whole system of voting is a farce & fifa has now been fully exposed for the corrupt organisation they are

for that reason, the bid will most likely go to russia :|

the spain/portugal bid is a bit of a joke.
who's gonna pay for it, EU bailout money ?? :cuss:

The 2018 world cup will be in Russia.
The 2022 games will be in Qatar.

I've just been watching. The beeb called the Qatar result 'astonishing' and quite rightly, for the reasons stated in RZR's post. I think the Worlds press will have a field day on FIFA now.

SA was not a success, Russia won't be and what a snub to some traditional and well supported countries Qatar is - do they even have a football team?

England caused too many ructions to win it. Very early allegations about corruption from within the bidding camp, then the Times and then Panorama.

Glad to be out of it.

Good!

Maybe the Japanese gits who are killing the Green Army will walk away from Home Park, taking their crazy ideas of a 46K capacity stadium, shopping malls and hotels with them.

Seems England got 2 votes - one of which was our own!

I'm not saying we should have won, but some of the stories already emerging are entertaining, to say the least.

Qatar in 2022, eh? Population 1.3m with a rich heritage in football (not). Its a joke, right?

you don't have to be perry mason to work out what the bidding process is all about  £$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£
i think presently fifa have nine officials currently suspended for taking bribes, i suspect a few more will be caught banking their roubles in the next week or so.

2 votes & not even making the second round of voting is an insult to england, but giving the 2022 tournament to qatar is a bigger insult to world football    :cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

i'm sure the media will keep digging the dirt on the corruption surrounding FIFA & quite rightly so :|

Whilst I'm in full agreement, it will probably be discounted as sour grapes.
