Thai officials are very dress conscious
I always go in shorts, t-shirt, and flip-flops; clean and neat, but casual. As long as you smile, are polite and respectful, I don't think they care what you wear. I'm not sure I still own any long pants! If I do they are buried in a box in the back of a closet somewhere. :D
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I went there a couple of weeks ago for a 7 day extention to a 30 day tourist entry. I did not have full proof of address. Only hotel business card. So told to go away and come back with better documents, despite having a Thai wife with me. In the end I got the extention by my wife getting some sort of bond document costing a few THB. However it still cost me the full 2,000 THB for 7 day extention.
