If they want you to work there they will, if not, then you apply somewhere else. If it takes you a while to find a school/college that is really interested then you might have to leave and apply to a consulate/embassy in a neighbouring country for another 3 months non O visa. If you are married then there is no limit on how many of them you can have on the trot, maybe Lomuamart can confirm, but I believe it's still true and it seems to be the only visa they don't screw around with too much, stays the same most of the time.

However, it is unlikely that you will have to mess around too much these days as almost all schools/colleges/universties now want at least one foreigner so that they have the fashion accessory to look 'international' etc. You should see some of the jokes that get jobs these days, and work permits here, even in HH probably too.

Can concur what Spitfire has said JG, I also had WP on a non-imm 'O', and used to get annual extensions on the basis of employment. My company employing me, 4 employees (on paper) with 5% social insurance paid up monthly, and personal tax on your own 50k/month minimum required salary. Works out about 10,800 Baht/month.

Do some 'creative' business throughout the year, ie: declare business income/tax, and you don't have an actively operating company :D

You can get 2 yearly WP's now, ie: ahead of any visa/permit to stay.

Yes SJ, agree, I believe I'm getting one later this month too from my uni. Only have to wank around with the 90 day reporting stuff. :thumb:

That's right, Spitfire. No limit to how many single entry Non O's you can get if married to a Thai. The only tightening of the rule is that most neighbouring Thai Embassies and consulates these days won't give the multi-entry variety as they want you to get the annual extension or WP.

Siani.......while some of these replies are spot on, some are, as someone has already pointed out, anal. Nobody is going to do you for working in your garden. I'd bet my money on it that there isn't a single policeman or immigration official in this country that would see working in your garden as being working without a work permit. Sure, some Thais (and lazy arse farang...lol) can't see why you would want to do any gardening if you could just get it done for you, but that's as far as it goes. Here where we stay, there are many police living in the area, driving past our place everyday. They have all seen me working in the garden, mowing the lawn, and etc. Hell, they've even seen me up on the roof doing repairs, not to mention the fact that I painted our place myself once the builders were finished.

I think many posters take sarcasm too far as far as Thai laws are concerned. Now, if you seen to be driving around doing other peoples gardens, that would be a different story, even if there was no proof of you being paid, because they would simply assume you're getting paid in cash. After all, nobody in their right mind is going to voluntarily look after other peoples gardens.

Trust me, when it comes to gardening in Thailand, your problem isn't to do with working illegally......it's trying to get something to grow....lol. What a challenge it can be - enjoy yourself :thumb:
Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact

Spitfire wrote:^ Yes, agree, I think it's just a non immigrant visa of some discription and you can then apply for a work permit, this myth that you need a B visa is not true anymore. I get mine from a non O.
You saying being married on a O visa with 400K in the bank allows a work visa or what are the full requirements?
The only other requirement is have a job offer that complies with Work Permit requirements...

Several of our teachers are on O Visa with marriage extensions but I am aware of several other people.
