Internet Issues
I was wondering if anyone lese has encountered problems with their internet (especially 3BB) in the evenings?
It seems to start shutting down from about 6.30pm and then stops altogether from about 7pm until the morning
This has happened now for the past 7 days
Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Re: Internet Issues
Sometimes down for a short period 9 am ish and sometimes early evening. Maybe when it gets really busy the servers cannot cope but generally ok
Re: Internet Issues
I use 3BB on Soi 80, and am usually online around this time, but never noticed any slowdown. Definitely never noticed any SHUTdown. I often stay up late (until 0300 or so) and am online much of the time, and get full speed.
Re: Internet Issues
Online 24/7 with 3BB. Slight lull in download speed around 4pm for an hour or so otherwise goes pretty good especially overnight.
Had a couple of outages but the teckie from 3BB was round within the hour. Usually some line problems outside the condo

Re: Internet Issues
Yes, have experienced what you're describing with that provider, usually has two causes:
Afternoon/evening slow downs: over subscription, kids filling online gaming shops when school kicks out.
Disconnections: bad cabling - they will fix it if you keep on at them.

Internet access/reliability is extremely poor in most areas of Thailand. Thailand is so far behind the rest of the world in providing fast and reliable internet access, it is really shameful, sad and embarassing. There are a lot of countries that have already successfully rolled out and implemented 4G (wireless mobile internet) and Thailand does not even have 3G areas in most areas of the country, it's ridiculous.

Mostly caused by corrupt, inept and incompetent state run companies (TOT and CAT) squabbling over rights and control of it.

"Ragnarok Hour" when kids flood the system playing online games all over SE Asia such as Ragnarok. The infrastructure cant cope,
Made worse by internet shops round town using personal account connections rather than proper business connections to save money.
However, if its shutting down completely and locking you out thats something serious on a local level. It should slow down not shut down. You may be sharing a connection with some prat running serious download software that is eating up all the bandwidth on your shared box.
report it and get an engineer out to check it.
One other possibility is the 3BB splash screen when your account payment is supposedly due for payment - NB they still send them ut even when you pay in advance. That blocks access and they do send it out at the time you specify. You need to click on the screen then reset your router by doing an off and on to clear the fecking screen.
I run the cheap 500bht 3BB connection and though it slows down during kiddy rush hours it doesnt drop completely.
Good luck dealing with the brain dead hairstyles on legs in the shop.

I used to think that all the problems and delays were because of businessmen weaving a web so complex only they would profit the most. I think that's partially true, but I also think there is a black hand at work here once again scared to death of what would happen if too many people had access to information, and once again of course, to self education. Nanny still feels the kids aren't ready yet. PeteName Taken wrote:Internet access/reliability is extremely poor in most areas of Thailand. I think Thailand likes being a backwards and uneducated country. Maybe Thailand will eventually become a hermit kingdom like North Korea.
Re: Internet Issues
3b pants this afternoon. could be the influx from BKK for the jazz fetival and the long holiday til next tuesday. Lots more people using the infrastructure which is creaky anyway.
Re: Internet Issues
I also had the last 2 weeks from time to time internet problems.
So irritating. Was yesterday watching a news program on tv and then it suddenly stops. both laptops. Couldn't even make phone calls via Skype.
Went to bed early instead.
This morning ot was fine again. So gonna make some calls today.

It's not just the telecommunications infrastructure that is creaky.fft100 wrote:3b pants this afternoon. could be the influx from BKK for the jazz fetival and the long holiday til next tuesday. Lots more people using the infrastructure which is creaky anyway.
Clean water shortages are frequent and a common occurence in a lot of the small rural towns in Thailand due to inadequate water supply/delivery infrastructure.
Thailand really is a very backwards country. LOL
