Work Permit Question
Ok so I know that for every work permit I get for my business, I have to get 4 Thai employees. Well, a customer was commenting to me the other day that this law has changed and that now the requierment is only 2 Thai employees for every work permit. This can really help me out since I have 2 work permits and that is forcing me to have 8 employees, wich means I have to pay 8 Social Securities, plus the 2 for farangs. In all I pay about 15,000 baht a month in taxes and social security,, this is killing me, since till now I have only been breaking even. This makes it very difficult to do buisness in Thailand.
Re: Work Permit Question
I think what is being commented on here is for a business that you own in partnership with your Thai spouse, the you only need 2 Thai tax paying employees for each Work Permit. Someone please correct me if I am wrong..

This would be the first time I've ever heard anything like this.
My understanding has always been that you need 2 million baht capitalisation and 4 Thai employees for each work permit application for a foreigner.
Incidentally, the Thai employees and the employer have to be paying social insurance contributions (for at least 3 months prior to the work permit application); it has nothing to do with tax as the income tax threshold here is 12.5 k per month as far as I'm aware so everyone below that income level is exempt from tax.
I will check on the first point again, though, and report back.

Re: Work Permit Question
Would go along with what barry said, if you have 2 work permits then I assume you have a 4 million baht company.
Why not change to a 2 million baht company with 4 employees and just one work permit as you are heading into low season.
