I think Johan is opff the mark here, trying to have his cake and eat it. Rubbish like this upsets people and causes unnecessary problems. This problem is not unique to Thailand. Try a smile and negotiate. Never ever lose the plot, or you never win.

Ya me too?.........aside from the Thai's most of the drunken drivers here in HH at night are from one particular country. U and K come into mind. Seems to be a regular past time to pour gallons of beer in them before heading home. Funny how the regular drunks here in HH and on this site feel the need to protect themselves? Sad really.

Don't be so sure. I was in Greece once. 16 yo Scandi girls rolling around in the gutter everywhere. The police asked one pair of girls if they were OK, in English. The girls replied OK, in English. And the police wandered off in their merry way muttering something about 'F***ing Brits'. Of course which other language is a Cypriot policeman and a Scandi (or any other fair haired holiday making) girl likely to have in common. Finnish, perhaps? Croatian maybe?

Try not to fall into that trap, old chap. Not saying the brits don't do their fair share of D&D but some of our Euro brethren, plus the Yanks, Canucks, Kiwis, Aussies, South Africans and a host of others have actually mastered the art of the Queens' English. At least to a passable standard, doncha know. And which they are might not be totally obvious to a speaker of English as a second language.

THEY CHARGE FOREIGNER A MINIMUM OF 2 TIMES MORE THAN THE PRICE FOR THAIS AND THEY WILL NEVER TREAT YOU WITH RESPECT EVEN IF YOU CAN SPEAK THEIR LANGUAGE, YOU RESPECT THEM AND YOU HAVE BEEN LIVING THERE FOR MANY YEARS.
I HAVE TRAVELED AND I HAVE WORKED IN MANY COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD INCLUDING ASIAN COUNTRIES SUCH AS JAPAN, INDONESIA, MALAYSIA AND INDIA AND I CAN SURELY SAY THAT I HAVE NEVER FOUND ANYONE WHO WAS MORE ARROGANT, RACIST AND HONOR-LACKING THAN THAI PEOPLE.
