I know what you mean, Birmingham and Stoke will be challenging games!dtaai-maai wrote:it would be nice to see some competitive games coming up against some of the good European sides that are going to be in it...

Have to say congrats to ManU, even though it was fitting their result today owed much to Fergies law!!!

As for the Blues. well after the double of the previous season, anything short of winning the champions league was going to be a downer. Again, I don't see the need for wholesale change, the bulk of the team are strong, fit to a silly level and good enough. Wilkins returning would be a good start, but I doubt that will happen. As for the current manager, a few tactical errors cost us in crucial games, but onwards and upwards as they say and on balance, I hope he stays. Just bring in a bit of flair.
Lionel Messi will do.

Talk is cheap

Agree BB but my point was they were a force to be reckoned with in those days and as a supporter for 60 years I want to see them back there with the greatsBig Boy wrote:But not on top until 1974.
You must, and I know you do, despite the boardroom cockups support our teams regardless

Have a beer on me my big boy. Your team has gone down. My team is in 'Bates' limbo

Manchester City and Stoke play again on Tuesday. Hard one to predict. Stoke will either give up, or be hell bent on revenge. MC may be too casual about it. Their only incentive is they could pass Arsenal

I think Ryan Giggs deserves a mention - 12 League Titles..... quite a record.

Thanks for the congrats, caller, but it was a definite penalty.....Robinson took Hernandez out.Ironically he didnt have to make the challenge because Hernandez had lost control of the ball already but it was a clear penalty.caller wrote: Have to say congrats to ManU, even though it was fitting their result today owed much to Fergies law!!!![]()
Again, not a great performance from United again on their travels.....just 5 away wins all season in the Premiership.
You can see why Kusczak will be leaving at the end of the season but the defence was uncertain, midfield sluggish and forwards frustratingly wayward.
But its a record title in the bag.....just hope they dont play like that against Barcelona !
With Blackpool and Wolves both winning it means the 2 points dropped by Blackburn means they are in a relegation scrap on the final day, also involving Wigan and Birmingham assuming Wigan win to send West Ham down and Birmingham fail to beat Fulham.
And the last day Wigan host Blackburn and Blackpool travel to Old Trafford where Sir Alex will have the luxury of resting his top players with the title already won.

Talking about that era, I started to watch a film about Brian Clough and his determination to knock Don Revie and Leeds off their perch (shades of Fergie and L'pool), but it was so awful I couldn't stand more than 20 minutes.

Are you talking about ''The Damned United''? I actually enjoyed that movie and I'm not even a Wendyball supporter! From what I gather, has some excellent reviews also.dtaai-maai wrote:Talking about that era, I started to watch a film about Brian Clough and his determination to knock Don Revie and Leeds off their perch (shades of Fergie and L'pool), but it was so awful I couldn't stand more than 20 minutes.

Far from it actually Dtaai-mai...... actually have an un-natural (possibly) hatred of them as an ex-girlfriends father was a devoted fan - it wasn't a good end to the relationship!!
Despite not really following football (preferring Rugby Union), if anything, I'm a Liverpool fan - I imagine picked based on Ian Rush (a fellow countryman) and the fact that my eldest brother despised them, instead choosing to follow Leeds.
Very calculated and impressive reasons for choosing a team IMHO.
