Champions League 2010 / 2011
Re: Champions League 2010 / 2011
At least we've got the football oracle that is Harry Redknapp to talk us through it.
When's his court case BTW?

Sir Alex doesn't look too disappointed.

He can't be disappointed when his team were beaten by a much better side. After the first 10 minutes, Barcelona were several classes above.

Well, that's true Big Boy. Now another thing BB. You have written "the lowest tier of football" for Plymouth playing in league two. What do they play in the conference and below that then? Rugby?

Division 4 (League 2) is, as far as I'm concerned, the lowest tier. Yes there is life outside of the top 4, but I wouldn't want to comprehend that.

Aaahhhh! I can sleep well tonight.
Of to HH next weekend too, great weekend!
Have to laugh at all the media that have tried to compare Rooney to Messi this week, admit your allegiances or get a new job!

According to most manure fans i've talked too, Barca aren't all that & they had a good chance tonight
. . . . . . .
The scoreline was a bit flattering . . . . to manure that is

Re: Champions League 2010 / 2011
In many ways it was a re-run of the 2009 final in that United started brightly for the first 10 minutes then Barcelona assumed total control,
Rooney gave United hope withan excellent equaliser, against the run of play, but once Messi scored Barca's second that was it.
But rather than dwell on Uniteds shortcomings I'd rather pay tribute to the excellent way Barcelona played.
Currently they are head and shoulders above any other club side in Europe and probably the world.
Their boss,Pep Guardiola,is only 40 and must be running Jose close for the title of "special one."
Messi just parades his superb skills without any hint of retaliation for the rough treatment he suffers.
You look at the English teams....United,Chelsea,Arsenal,Spurs,Liverpool even Citeh and the amount of team rebuilding required and you wonder how long it will be before an English side graces the Champions League final again ??
Despite this result I do hope Arsenal can scrape through the qualifying round and qualify for the Group Stages and I hope Liverpool will qualify for any European competition in the not too distant future !

Re: Champions League 2010 / 2011
Messi the best player in the world? Certainly the best midfield/forward, but it`s a team game, how would he do in a back four or as a gk?
Zidane, you are the only realistic, un-arrogant (does the word exist?) Man U fan I`ve come across.
In true Baa Baa style: Arsenal were the only team to beat Barcelona in this year`s competion.

OK, nobody is the best player then? Odd statement.Arcadian wrote:Messi the best player in the world? Certainly the best midfield/forward, but it`s a team game, how would he do in a back four or as a gk?
Gerrard it is then.
Must have missed the ceremony.Arcadian wrote:In true Baa Baa style: Arsenal were the only team to beat Barcelona in this year`s competion.
Re: Champions League 2010 / 2011
Are you seriously questioning if possibly the greatest player EVER doesn't quite cut it because he'd be a shit centre half or goalkeeper?Arcadian wrote:Messi the best player in the world? Certainly the best midfield/forward, but it`s a team game, how would he do in a back four or as a gk?

He'd still be better than Arsenals keepers and he's about 5'4.
That Thierry Henry lad was a rubbish fullback, not in the same league as Ashley Cole.

Re: Champions League 2010 / 2011
Poor Arsenal....after they beat Barcelona they only won four more matches till the end of the season and one of them was against Leyton Orient !
If Barcelona had played badly and beaten United I would have been pretty hacked off but they were superb....different class.....so no complaints about the result which, actually, flattered United !
I really rate their manager,Guardiola. He comes across as a decent,quiet,un-assuming guy who just gets on with his job and he's even made Mascherano
look comfortable on the ball !!

Mascherano is underrated by some in that aspect. He's actually a really tidy player.
He can ping it about and is a decent little dribbler.
Gutted when he left TBH!
