NAAB THONG soi 88
NAAB THONG soi 88
This great little Thai restaurant has now extended opening hours and the menu. A bar serving cocktails, shakes etc. at very reasonable prices has also been introduced. 80 Bt for a long island iced tea with proper measures whilst watching the sunset over the mountains goes down a treat after a long hot day. 25 baht for a beer was my choice today after 4 hours of shopping.
Give it a try.

Crazy88, where exactly on Soi 88 is this place?
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Go up 88 about 5km and you come to a sharp left hand bend which takes you to Avenue 88 Gold and Orchid Palm homes. Don't take the left carry straight on into the village a few hundred metres and Avenue 88 Executive is on your left. It is just past that on the right. Open plan with a blue roof and a lake. Coming in from the top it is a couple of hundred metres past Siam Old Teak. Naab Thong refers to the badge/medal that the PYB was awarded and wears on the shoulder of his uniform. Judging by the amount of top brass that were at the very extravagant presentation party it must be quite a prestigious award. The restaurant is outside his house and run by his daughter so if you get lost anyone in the district will know where you are looking for.

Very reasonable prices? 25 Baht for a beer and 80 Baht for a Long Island. How can they survive?
A Long Island Ice Tea made with proper measures (for instance using the official recipe of the International Bartender's Association) will set you back 70 Baht. Ingredients only.

Quite correct and very accurate on the cost of that cocktail. Like a GENUINE imported steak it is a loss leader. Also minimal overheads like zero rent and balancing costs out over your menu really help. Go and try one. Let everyone know what you think.

25 ml per spirit and not too much coke or syrup rather than than the official 15 ml measures. Hits the spot.

I went here last night after going the wrong way over the railway tracks - 145b for chicken and cashew nuts, spring rolls and a can of leo - it was nice but think I need to go for the sunset next time as not a lot to see in the dark!

Nab Thong = Count the Gold? (count your coins?)

I finally got around to trying this place tonight. All I can say is excellent! It's a little far out but worth the drive. The mixed drink menu is extensive (like Mai Tai downtown) but the drinks are some of the best I've had here (I had Long Island Iced Teas and Margaritas). The beer is cold and cheap and the (Thai) food is excellent and also cheap.
I had four excellent mixed drinks, a large Heineken, and an excellent Thai meal for under 500 baht.
They close at 8 p.m. (unless they have customers) so it's better to go early.
Highly recommended! Thanks Crazy88 for posting about this place!

It sounds great, will give it a try. I think I may have driven past it. Does it have water in front of it?
