'Tis the Calcutta Cup awarded to the winner of the annual rugby union Six Nations competition.

Named such as the competition originated in Calcutta in 1872. :thumb: Pete

OK....this one stalled in takeoff so Ill give you the man in photo 1

that is Fritz Otto Bernert

as Jimbob correctly spotted from Bader and Richthoven the answer to Q2 is that they are all Fighter Aces.

Now .... on to the last question. Who is the odd man out and why.

I can think of at least 5 reasons for one or the other to be the odd man out, so the glazed donut goes to the person to get the most correct possible answers.

chocks away chaps

I would say pewter. When I first looked at it I thought Thailand, Burma, Laos, Cambodia, India. But....it looks old and those first 4 did have organized, trophy presenting activities in those primitive days to my knowledge. Second clue it was India was the blanket on the elephant which looks different than that used on SEA changs. Pete

OK Red Leader
We are talking about disabiities!
Fritz Otto Bernert had the use really of one arm
Bader had his legs problems
both survived crashes only to die of 'natural causes.

The Calcutta Cup is made from melted down silver rupees. This money was what was left of the funds of the Calcutta Rugby Club when it was disbanded in 1878. The club had been formed in 1873, but lack of players hastened it's demise. The 'Calcutta' Cup was presented to the RFU to be presented to the winner of the annual England/Scotland match, as the original club had been born out of a match organised between 20 Englismen and 20 Scots, Irishmen and Welshmen on Christmas Day 1872.

A beautiful trophy!

Ok...looks like Jimbob wins the tasty choccy glazed donut challenge....

Heres the list of possible odd man out answers I came up with

Bader is the odd man out because hes ENGLISH.... the other two are Germans....obvious see

Bader is the odd man out because hes a WW2 pilot and the other two are WW1...again pretty obvious

Richthoven is the odd man out because hes the only whole man there...Bader had no legs and
Bernert had no left arm (see its tucked behind his back in the photo?)

Richthoven is the odd man out because hes the one that died in combat - Bader and Bernert died after leaving the forces.

Bader is the odd man out because he was the only one to be shot down and taken prisoner. Both
Richthoven and Bernert survived multiple shootings down but were never taken prisoner.

Bernert is the odd man out because he was the only one to fly wearing glasses. (disabled and short sighted...phew!)

Bernert is the odd man out as although all three were classed as flying aces, only Bernert achieved the "Ace in a Day" status (5 kills in one mission... he actually did it in one 20 minute dog fight) .

so...glazed donut to Jimbob and the bill for coffee to the rest.
