Hash House Harriers/New resident teacher

I am a relatively new resident in town and there is a Hash run tomorrow - 12/3 at 4PM. I am without wheels and am enquiring about ways of getting to the Hash.
Also I am aware of the frustrations foreigners often have with the schooling situation in town. I am a qualified teacher - BA (Social Sciences) Diploma of Education (Social Science Education and TESOL) with 5 years experience in Australia and Thailand. I have a moderately resourced classroom and can teach/tutor many subjects for all ages and language abilities. Post if interested.

I have a moderately resourced classroom and can teach/tutor many subjects for all ages and language abilities.

Not a dig at all, but may I ask how old you are? If anything over 40 then a majority of Thai's will consider you too old to teach Primary students.

Also unless you are planning on getting a work permit to do private lessons in this classroom of yours you will be opening up a whole can of worms. I have a few friends who got into major shit by teaching from their home. Who grassed them up? - The jealous neighbours. Jealousy is rife here and to get stabbed in the back by a 'friend' isn't unheard of here either.

Unless you don't particulary enjoy your time in Thailand I would steer well clear of the teaching from home business unless it's kids you are already teaching at a school. With the battle between language schools going on anyway, for a guy to start profiting from illegal private lessons would be a an accident waiting to happen.

Enjoy your time here without unneeded hassle.

There may be a few serious runners who may prod you, but it is more about the fun and social side.

i went to a couple of hash events when i was there in may as my friend lives next door to the guy who runs the cha am hash. aussie al is right, the social side is great but some of the runners are very competetive. i only walked the routes but they can be very tough as they go through some very dense bushland sometimes.

I've been doing the Hash for the last few years when I'm in town. If you look on their website there should be a contact number. If you call they will have someone try and arrange a lift for you. Alternatively, you could PM (once you reach 10 posts) a forum member called Donald Allen Tetley (that's his handle in this Forum) - or I could PM you his contact number.

The actual Hash is good fun - you don't have to run, you can walk, run/walk - I used to run but these days kikiat maak maak
