Re: History Challenge
I think Siani will have to give us another clue to the Spanish looking lady and castle as I've run out of ideas.
Re: History Challenge

She is not spanish ...and the place is not Italy or Spain. She is wearing a costume for her work

...but she was born in Spain. Her name Adelina Patti and she bought this little pad (Craig y Nos Castle) in Wales to kip down in. She was an opera singer and liked to travel in style, hence the Pullman carriage.

Re: History Challenge
Well done!
I'd figured out she must be a Victorian opera singer playing Carmen, but I went a bit off course by paying too much attention to the Indian looking chaps by the train, so I wasn't expecting the castle to be in Wales!

Well done! Correct

My aunt has sung on this stage, it is in Wales not far from Neath.
Re: History Challenge
That was a tough one Siani, wouldn't have got it without the Pullman clue
Here's one for you...
1. Who's the handsome gentleman on the right in the picture?
2. What is he famous for?
3. What does he have in common with a famous Hollywood actor?

You're going great guns now Siani, not only on this thread but others. I think a month or so ago you had about half the posts you have now. Keep it up, your posts and observations are interesting.
