Can anyone let me know if I can obtain a double entry visa online..I am from UK but live in Lanzarote, we do not have a Embassy here?..If so how long does it take to process?
Hello Veronica. Interesting dilemma! You may well be able to apply for the visa on line, but one way or another, the visa will have to be physically placed into the passport. This can usually be done by post, but you may not want to send your passport to the Thai embassy in Spain. I suggest you email the Thai embassy and ask for advice.
I suspect you'll either have to travel to get the visa or rely on the postal service.
Good luck.
Thanks for info, tried that email and bounced back, very strange email add for an Embassy ....
One more question, As we are not to sure when we will be returning, can we book a one way flight ticket or is this not aloud ? we are looking to come on a double entry visa, then renew 30 days, do run ect so not exactly sure of return date...Do you have to show a return flight ticket when applying for visa ?

You don't need to show any air tickets when applying for a visa and are unlikely to be asked to prove you have a return flight booked when arriving at immigration.
However, some checking may be done by the airline when you get your boarding pass, so it may be better to purchase a flexible return ticket which allows the return date to be easily changed without incurring a high penalty fee.
Return tickets usually cost a lot less than purchasing two separate one-way fares.
There's no necessity for a return flight or onward journey if you're arriving with a visa. There is if arriving to get a visa exempt stamp - ie 30 days.
Simple as that.

Thanks chopsticks ( great name )
I have just checked flights and 1 way flights are same price as a package holiday for 1 week..... Is it possible to go on a package holiday and also apply for a double entry visa as may as well have package holiday as to buy a one way flight......Also not sure on correct dates yet, do you need this when you apply for a visa or can you say for instance OCT .
Check with the travel agent who is selling the package holiday if you can extend your stay and return with the same airline at a later date.
The visa application process is separate to the package holiday arrangements so no problem there.
The visa expiry date will be determined by your actual entry date but you must enter before the utilization date which is stamped on the visa.
Tourist visas are normally issued promptly so there's no need to apply too far in advance.

Ok thanks, you have been most helpful, I am slowly beginning to understand the process of visas.....I hope you are all enjoying living in Thailand...I am sooooo excited and looking forward to seeing Tesco lol, we dont have any big named supermarkets here....in fact Lanza dont have much of anything.. shouldn't grumble though we have the weather.....
Is it best to just look around when we arrive in Hua Hin for a long term rental,or use an agent, also are there any areas to avoid ??
I'll say again that you do not need a return ticket or proof of onward travel if arriving here with any kind of visa, including tourist, although I appreciate that it might make financial sense if booking a package deal but quite how, if you stay for almost the full 180 days a double entry tourist visa can give you, is beyond me. However, if you arrive without a visa - and expect a 30 day visa exempt stamp - then you do have to have that return or onward travel document. It's the airline that'll cause trouble as they can be fined and held liable to return you if you're refused entry by Imm here so the onus is on them - but that only comes into play if you don't have a visa.
And just another point of clarification, the visa expiry date is not determined by your date of entry. The former is cast in stone from the date the visa is entered in your passport and will be 90 days for single entry or 180 days for double. You can arrive here on day 88/178 and be permitted to stay for 60 days from then and be given the opportunity to extend for a further 30 days, so the visa will have expired but you are allowed to stay. Once in the country, the permitted to stay stamp that Imm gives you supercedes the visa's validity. Basically, the visa is just an invitation to come to the country. My visa expired almost 4 years ago but I extend it annually and therefore am legal.
However, NOTE that if on a double entry visa, you must make your exit and return to Thailand to activate the second entry before the visa expires so as chopsticks said it dosn't make sense to apply too early.
It seems that some Embassies are asking for return airline tickets prior to issuing tourist visa, a friend of mine had that issue at Abu Dhabi a few months back.
He did not have a return ticket, so he quickly went on-line and bought an Air Asia to Penang.

Ok my intentions are to book a package holiday for 1 week in Oct for 1 week ( the only reason I am doing this is because it is the same price as a flight only ) At the same time I also apply for a double entry visa 60 days from Oct from the London Embassy...
When I arrive in Thailand I will show my double entry visa .I then apply for a 30 day extension...I then fly out the country apply for a 60 day double entry visa in hat country, come back to Thailand and renew for 30 days....Is this all correct ??
