Shooting range

Post by thebears »

Am I correct in thinking that there is a small shooting range on the left side, traveling from Cha-Am to Hua Hin, about half way between?

Does anyone have a recommendation of where to shoot and what they have available. Is it possible to do clay shooting?

I may be completely wrong, but most of these shooting ranges offer the pistol/rifle/shotgun stuff but perhaps don't bother going if you want to shoot assault rifles (AK-47s/M16s) or sub-machine guns like an Uzi or such like. If you are after that sort of buzz then maybe Cambodia would be good for that, heard you can also have a pop with an RPG if you want there too.

There are two shooting ranges here that I know of. One is the one you mentioned and another is in the northwest corner of Hua Hin run by the Police. I've only been to that one and they had pistols and revolvers to rent and of course they sell the shells and targets and will give lessons.

Also I don't know any place the has clay pigeon shooting. If there is I would like to know as I would enjoy that myself.

Thanks hhfarang. Is the former very good? If it's the place I'm thinking, it has an old aircraft parked nearby.

I haven't been to the one on the highway. The one out west is a decent range but they didn't have much of a choice of weapons (only three I think, a 357 revolver, 9mm pistol, and a 22 or other small caliber on a 9mm frame) to rent the last time I was there (a couple of years ago).

I don't recall exactly how much but I remember it was fairly expensive (for my budget) to rent a pistol and shoot a box of (50) cartridges so I haven't done it in a while even though I love shooting.

Not being an expert, but having just enjoyed clay shooting a lot in the past, does the 22 mean a shotgun?

Basically I'm not really very interested in pistols, but like a big gun with a bang.

^ Nope, last time I was there (the police range) it was pistols (or revolvers) only.

I have been to both and both are pretty similar. The range on Phetkasem Rd is smaller, but I have seen somone there with an M16 (which I am pretty sure was hired) and we took a .22 with scope there, which it is too small for IMO. We hired a glock 9mm from there and took a 357 Smith & Wesson, which they gave us police issue .38 bullets for, so not as much bang. We did go to this range a couple years ago and they gave us an MP5 to have a go with too.

The other place on the outskirts, we took an assortment of our own guns. We took a Colt 9mm, 357 S&W Magnum, Sig Sauer 9mm, .22 Czech made rifle with scope (dont know the name) and an M16.

The bonus of this range was it was bigger and had further targeting for the scope and the M16. I am not sure on the range of guns offered here because we had our own.

I would say the instructors were better here than on Phetkasem Rd also.

Price wise, we paid 4000 at the Hua Hin Gun Association range where we took our own guns and some bullets, I dont know how many and what type of bullets were purchased there, but I think it was quite a lot.

At Phetkasem, we paid 900 for 2 boxes, 1 9mm and 1 .38 police special. W also didnt pay for using the glock. These are a special price for police, I could not get these prices myself...so if you know any police see if they can hook you up.

The one travelling from Cha am to hua hin is rather small, yes it has the aircraft out the front, they have 38's 9mm clock, 11 mm kimba hand guns, hk mp5 in 9mm and 45 and can do full auto 2 shot burst and semi, i have not been for about 6 months now but its pretty dear. 4 of us put about 1 box through everything and cost 4k each. oh and i think theres a 22 there aswel, rifle cheaper on rounds...hope that helps
