Sanity, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.
What is missing is an 'ignore' button in public.
I've had three incidents recently. One where I was invited to join a group who apparently meet to discuss conspiracy theories. The other where I was approached by someone I have great respect for, who wanted to engage me in these topics off the forum and a third incident which I won't comment on.
Let me make it clear to those who are minded to engage me in the street. It is nothing personal but I do not wish to discuss these topics off the forum. Talk to me about football, talk to me about the speed of the greens, let's enjoy a family barbecue together but please respect my wish not to discuss these subjects publicly. If you cannot do so then don't talk to me at all. As far as I am concerned the only place I am willing to talk politics and religion is in a 'virtual world' where people are too far apart from each other to reach across the table and wring your neck.
I've enjoyed the opportunity to test my mettle on HHAD, and appreciative that the forum has allowed these discussions to take place, even if only to get advertisers names in front of 'punters'. But I've been disturbed by what I see happening off the forum and am therefore calling it a day. Cries of 'Don't let the door hit you on the way out' are to be expected.
Best of British to you.
