Championship 2011-12
Which team is your favourite. I'll be supporting my old favourites Brighton and Crystal Palace but wouldn't mind to see Forest back in the PL.

Re: Championship 2011-12
Glad to see you support Palace, I have been a supporter for 50 years.

Woke up this morning breathing that's a good start to the day.
Re: Championship 2011-12
I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Nottingham Forest since being a small boy.
I think they will be in the running for promotion to the Premiership along with West Ham and Leicester.

From BBC live :
Unfortunately Crystal Palace lost after being 1-0 ahead.
Happy, happy.Hollywood scriptwriters take note. With the last kick of their first competitive match at their new £90m-plus ground, substitute Will Buckley slots the winner for promoted Brighton to complete a dramatic 2-1 victory after going a goal down. [And manager Poyet decides to scrap the career in writing as he bounds joyously from the pressbox.] Great occasion at the Amex Community Stadium.

Palace made their usual start to a season, they like to come from behind

Quite pleased the Saints got off to a good start against Leeds.
The manager has managed to hold on to a good squad from last year and bring in a few players to give a bit of depth to the team as a whole.
First opening day win for Southampton since 1999.

Two newly promoted south coast teams on top, quite a start.

Re: Championship 2011-12
This is the first time I've looked at the stats this year. It appears that Southampton and West Ham are probable for coming up. Cardiff was in the running last season I think but failed in the playoffs? I also recall that Nottingham Forest was in the running but they now sit in 22 this season. A train wreck? The teams that went down last year from the PL don't look to be doing too well either.
There must be an interesting stat somewhere indicating if a team doesn't make it back up in the first year, it takes quite a few more years to achieve it. Pete

It's far too early yet Pete. Too many injuries still to happen, plus the January transfer window through which teams are likely to lose their star players.

Yeah, you're right. I have my fingers crossed for West Ham though. PeteBig Boy wrote:It's far too early yet Pete. Too many injuries still to happen, plus the January transfer window through which teams are likely to lose their star players.
