P.S. Any crook reading this post must know: :guns: :neener:

1. We won't be carrying any cash! :banghead:
2. What money we might have will be spent on purchasing our
accomodation. :banghead:
3. Well, what any burglar could hope to find is: BOOKS, lots of books.
I have spent all my money on books.
No money for any luxury items left, I'm afraid. :banghead:

Dear "Khundon1975", :)

thanks for your unexpected message.

If 1975 is the year of your birth, you are unusually young for a Goon fan.

Born in 1975! I wish. I am only a couple of years younger than you MB

The radio programmes you list were listened to by all the family back then, everyone sat around the radio, laughing and trying to mimic the voices. Now it's all "reality crap".

Good luck when you move and if I may be so bold, take the advice to rent for a while, with the market as it is at the moment there are some fantastic rental deals to be had and moving after a year or so is no problem. This is Thailand. :D

We are not full time residents, we just pop in and out of Thailand and other countries from time to time, (the wife is over there for a few months at the moment doing deals etc and will no doubt come back loaded up with herbs, dried fish and meats :cuss: ) but plan on full time residency there, some time in the future. No rush.

As you are a fan of Milligan, try to get hold of his book Puckoon, a short, but hilarious read.

I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Hello "Khundon1975",

thanks for your kind reply.

Rommel? Gunner who?

Well, I have read Milligan's Memoirs!

Have a nice weekend.

Perhaps we get to meet next year.

Take care!

2 4 7 DAYS TO GO TILL MY RETIREMENT!

Hello,

time seems to have flown by since my first post & introduction. The count was 553 DAYS then!

Hope to move to Hua Hin (with my wife!) next June.

Lots of things to prepare and to do!

Can anyone first advise me how to change my password?
I have checked the page "Viewing profile", but have not
figured out how to change my password.

More, lots more to come from me in the next weeks & months!

Have a nice weekend!

Well, I have just discovered the UCP, but still cannot see any reference to a password change!

Must be going blind.

Hi Major B,
Hope you're ok with Yanks too! If it helps, my German friends are great and I love your cars and food. I'm also painfully jealous as you are much closer to retirement than I. Economics keep messing with me so mine may be a little later than I wish. 'til then, I'll visit often and keep dreaming.

Better they mess with you before you retire than after... :D
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

This country is hot, it's humid and we've got to put up with it all year round. There's no escape.
The locals don't understand English and their smiles are head bamging.
Nothing seems to work to any schedule, it can be a pain just to go the local shop because of all the traffic.
And you've got to bend to the wind and whims of Immigraton. And when you eventually think you've worked it all out it's back to square one.
He he. This is a frustrating country but I'd rather be here than elsewhere.

Big Boy, Coldmike, hhfarang, lomuamart & traveller2 -

Hello and many thanks for your kind messages & wishes,

Coldmike - of course, no trouble with the Yanks at all!Lol
Actually I'm a great fan of the Marine Corps and the US Airborne.
Courtesy to my Philippino wife I have several Philippino in-laws in the States: Chicago & Connecticut mainly.

Traveller2 - Yes, I believe the guys (& gals? - where are they?) here on/in the Forum seem to be
a decent bunch.

Looking forward to meeting some, if not all of them next year.

The fluctuating exchange rate of the Euro has been unnerving my wife and me lately.
Our financial means are rather limited and a low Baht can make quite a difference.

Finding a suitable house will be the priority.
Of course, we are only interested in buying a finished house, a resale most likely.

We may follow the advice given at the beginning of my correspondence, namely to
rent a house first, unless we find the perfect house right away. Would save us the
trouble of having to move house again.

First we have to consult someone from the haulage firm about the probable costs.
On that estimate it will depend whether we only bring clothes, books, household appliances & tools or selected pieces of furniture, too.

Getting rid of the things we won't take to Thailand, medical check-ups, vaccinations,
new passports, selling the car, having all the papers for immigration, etc. will keep us
occupied till we take off from Frankfurt, I'm sure.Lol

Promise to write more regularly from now. Have lots of questions.

Have a nice day & week.

Mike aka "Major Bloodnok".

Hello Big Boy, :D

what?1 what? what?! I say, old chap, it seems you will win the race.

When do you plan to go to Hua Hin?

Most probably we won't take any furniture after all.
We could well use the money we might have to spend on transport
for buying a more expensive house.

Have a good time.

Till my next post!

Unfortunately for me, the Plan A retirement is in 4969 days......... I'm guessing I could add a few K to that though

Anyways, best of luck to you fortunate buggers who make it a damn sight earlier.... ENJOY!!
