It's still looking grim for the Green Army. For the 8th month in succession the players aren't getting paid. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14119417.stm

They've started training with just 15 players, which include 4 triallists and 2 2nd year apprentices. If anybody's got an old pair of boots, nip down to Home Park on Friday, and I'm sure you'll get a game.

Spurs are still chasing one of the few remaining internationals - Curtis Nelson. Obviously waiting for the sale of Modric to go through so that they can afford to pay for him.

With the new pay capping rules, this change of 'substitute rules' is going to significantly help struggling League 2 clubs.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14237653.stm

Last season in League 1, the Green Army rarely had enough players to field 7 substitutes. With wages only permitted to be 55% of a club's income this season, having to field 2 less players is going to be a significant bonus. However, it probably doesn't go far enough.

After getting the win yesterday, sponsorship finally all gone through (with more news from Ginsters apparently on the way!) and Dave Jones being appointed CE - is it time to finally time to start looking forward to the season or do you think that the deal with Heaney is still a long way off from being completed? From the reports I've read we still need someone that can put the goals in the net but the rest of the team looking quite good - can't wait for the start of the season - only 9 days to go!

Welcome to the forum PAFC (great name by the way :D )

Personally, I think things are far from settled:

- Ridsdale still awaiting a court appearance on fraud charges.
- Heaney, whose only connection with Ireland is a pint of Guinness he drank once, is trying to con the FA by using Ridsdale as his puppet.
- AFIK the FA are still to be convinced by the conmen, and haven't handed over the Golden ticket yet.
- The Japs are still hovering in the form of Abe, or some similar name. All we keep getting are the same old stories (or should I say Jap lies) as last season - The money's with the solicitors - The money's coming next week etc etc
- Why do these sugar daddies insist on remaining anonymous?
- It's total brinkmanship, trying to play on Viv Pengelly's soft spot for the Green Army by getting the council to agree to decimating/developing Plymouth's prime parkland.
- Still not paying wages. It was because of that, they weren't allowed to sign players last season - what's changed this season?
- Guilfoyle - is he really stupid, or does he believe the fan base are. I thought the administrator was meant to be in charge. All this guy is doing is letting it last as long as possible to ensure he continues to rake in his extorionate fee for doing very little.
- The latest projection for buying the club is tomorrow - lets see what the excuses are tomorrow.

I could go on, and there are hundreds of questions being left unanswered. I still believe there's a real chance that they will not be turning out against Shrewsbury in 9 days time.

An excellent summation of the current situation - it has been a difficult couple of years and I agree in particular with your opinion on Guilfoyle who has had one of the strangest approaches to administration I have ever seen. He has allowed so many deadlines to pass and taken no action when others are ready to step in and obviously has some kind of agenda with the preferred bidder who he still maintains that he doesn't even know the name of. As you say we may not have a team next week but I only think we will as it is still an option to stay in administration for another year (would be another fun season!!)

A quote from the Western Morning News:
Mr Heaney's Cornish Homes (UK) Limited was liquidated with debts of £4.8million in 2008 – but he lent Truro City £1.4million the following year.
This is the 'honest' broker leading the Green Army's salvation :?

Interesting article and looks like we should hopefully have a team ready for the new season even if we never find out who the mystery bidders are!!

Less than 3 days to the start of the season, and still no agreement for the Green Army to play at Shrewsbury yet :?
http://www.thisisdevon.co.uk/Questions- ... story.html

IMHO, with the deal dependent upon Plymouth City Council giving the buyers the right to savage Central Park, I have real doubts that the Green Army will make it to the end of August

Against all odds, the Green Army are now 12 minutes into the new season - currently 0 - 0. Come on you Greens.

Kevin Heaney is the shark who is trying to pull the wool over the eyes of everybody to purchase the Green Army. His history matches the photo ie
Mr Heaney, whose Cornish Homes (UK) Limited was liquidated in 2008 and who had a County Court judgement against him last month, is financing the deal with "borrowed funding", Mr Guilfoyle (the Administrator) has confirmed.
Basically, Heaney has until 5pm (UK time) today to borrow the money, or the Green Army will be liquidated.

Why will they be liquidated? The adminstrator by-passed 2 other people with adequate funds in favour of Heaney's nameless wonders (at least one of them represented the Japs who have already lost their money, and has since walked away). Now, because of the Administrator's incompetance (he will have to start paying players wages if Heaney fails to borrow the money), the Administrator is going to liquidate the club.

The future does not look good

An eleventh hour deal has been done http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14678246.stm , but I still wouldn't trust him any further than I could throw him.

Personally, I am less than happy, especially when we had James Brent and his millions waiting in the wings. It just can't be good business that a bankrupt is borrowing money to save the Green Army.

  The End Is Nigh

My worst fears are being realised. I didn't believe that shark had managed to borrow enough money, and I thought this was only a further delaying tactic.

This article is damning enough, but the comments afterwards make very interesting reading. I'm obviouslynot the only one thinking the worst.

- Players going on strike!!

- Might have to field a youth side on Saturday (can't do much worse than the first team).

- Manager walking?

- Probably liquidated on the 13th :?

 What do I have as signature now :banghead: :banghead:

The question has been asked where all of the season ticket money and gate receipts has gone - the answer to that one is simple - paying the :butt: Administrator :butt: for doing such a wonderful job.

I'm resigned to probable liquidation now, but I just hope somebody calls in the Fraud Squad to investigate this farce.

Why oh why won't somebody put us out of our misery? If the Green Army was a sick animal, somebody would have put it down months ago.

For what I believe to be the 11th month in succession, neither the players nor the staff are getting their wages :banghead: This is despite 6 home matches and season ticket sales already this season. At least the incompetant :butt: Administrator :butt: is getting paid :?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14936499.stm

If Brent's bid is unsuccessful, we really must be facing the Grim Reaper. There are meant to be 3 other games in town, but I don't hold out much hope - Bullivant, Terry Venables and a Michael Jackson Appreciation Society.

Then again, Big Boy, think about Thai ways. They won't put even a dog out of its misery. Life is suffering, as Lord Buddha teaches. I have noticed the same thing during so many previous seasons with the Gunners and particularly after one miserable visit to Manchester, not so long ago.
