Juventus began what they hope will be a brighter era for the club by opening a new stadium with a lavish ceremony and a drawn friendly against Notts County.
The event in Turin was given great significance in Italy as Juventus will be the only Serie A to play in their own stadium, a situation which holds clubs back financially.
Notts County, who came away with a 1-1 draw, were chosen as the opponents for sentimental reasons as their black-and-white striped shirts inspired Juventus' choice of strip when the club decided to replace their faded pink shirts in 1903.
The Italian side - who were cash strapped back then - were given a load of Notts County shirts donated by an Englishman named John Savage. The Turin side have worn County's famous black-and-white stripes ever since, and chose to honour that century-old gesture of friendship with an invitation to the League One side to star at the inauguration of the Juventus Stadium.
