I've managed to transfer money from Lloyds to Bangkok Bank without any problem using the online service which worked fine. I only had to put in that four digit code when I first registered the account, after that it was a straight forward transfer.

As a side note, keep an eye on exchange rates over the next month. I think the Pound will go over 50 and the USD to the mid 30's. The flood impact on the economy here is going to be severe. Pete

Just instruct the Uk bank to transfer Sterling Pounds and your Thai bank will convert to your Baht account

Certainly with LloydsTSB, when you do an online transfer you get the choice of transferring in sterling or local currency.

I had problems doing online transfers with Santander as they insisted on sending an authorisation code via SMS. Apparantly non PAYG with 12Call wont accept what it regards as commercial SMS from the UK. Many phone cally later I found someone who believed that this was the case and set it up over the phone. I made a complaint to Santander about this and 3 months later they havent replied to the complaint

I went into Natwest this week to pay some cheques in and asked the cashier, she told me to ask online virtual assistant if you can transfer funds more cheaper to Thailand, dont know if they try not to promote this service or not as going in a branch like we do is a bloody good money spiner for them.
I will look into this when i have more spare time.
