Does it? I thought it was a Maori thing, not a white settler thing? And Maoris seem to play for the highest bidder now.

On saying that, the NZ Maories haka is a sight to behold (turn the volume up)!

Rather than a new thread for now......caught a blip that Wales will play New Zealand in what will be the rebuilt Christchurch stadium in June. What tournament is that part of? Pete

Have to say I've not heard that Wales are playing a test against New Zealand in June. There are certainly test matches being played come June, with Ireland playing 3 test matches against New Zealand, the final match being played at the rebuilt Christchurch stadium - possibly this is what you are referring to. Wales meanwhile will be playing their own 3 test match series in Australia, with Scotland also playing a one off test against the Wallabies. These tests are not part of any competition, but simply tour matches - whilst strong squads are usually named, it is also a chance to blood new players/talent.

These tests will also lead into the newly formed Four Nations Tournament, an expansion of the previous Three Nations (NZ, Aus, SA, Arg).

Wales will also be playing the Wallabies in Cardiff next month in a repeat of the RWC 3rd place play-off.

No, the print ticker said Wales, unless I missed a period referring to Ireland-NZ in the previous sentence. Anyway, I'll keep an eye on the news. Pete

Smacks of being a Scapegoat....... certainly a bit harsh IMHO: -

Mike Tindall's England career is over after £25k fine for 'serious misconduct' at Rugby World Cup

From glory to ignominy, Mike Tindall’s England career has seemingly ended in humiliation.

The 33 year-old World Cup winner was kicked out of the Elite Player Squad squad and fined £25,000 after a Rugby Football Union investigation into his drunken night in a dwarf-themed Queenstown bar.

The sanction – tantamount to a public humiliation of England’s most-capped centre – provoked a furious reaction from the Rugby Players’ Association, which described the fine as “extraordinary”.

Tindall will appeal and is understood to feel he has been made a scapegoat for England’s World Cup failure, especially given that he broke no curfew during the night out on Sept 11, during which he was filmed cavorting with a blonde woman just weeks after his wedding to the Queen’s granddaughter, Zara Phillips.
